Facilities Process Chemical Engineer

Contract-to-Hire Opportunity
Location: Boise, ID (Onsite/Hybrid)

Position Overview

Our client is seeking a Facilities Process Chemical Engineer to support the design, development, and implementation of critical facility infrastructure for advanced industrial manufacturing environments. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex facility projects involving process chemical systems, utility distribution networks, manufacturing tool installations, and facility upgrades within state-of-the-art production facilities.

The successful candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, facility stakeholders, equipment manufacturers, and construction partners to develop engineering solutions that support sophisticated manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and engineer process chemical, process mechanical, and utility systems for industrial manufacturing facilities.
  • Develop construction documents, specifications, and installation packages for manufacturing tools, tenant improvements, and facility infrastructure upgrades.
  • Design and layout process piping systems, including wet and dry chemical distribution, gas distribution, water, wastewater, and related utility systems.
  • Perform engineering calculations, equipment sizing, component selection, and system evaluations.
  • Support the installation and integration of manufacturing equipment and associated utility systems.
  • Coordinate closely with stakeholders to establish design requirements and utility needs for new and existing manufacturing tools.
  • Work alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop facility solutions that meet operational and safety requirements.
  • Participate in field investigations, site walks, and construction support activities.
  • Review contractor submittals, respond to RFIs, and provide technical support during construction and commissioning.
  • Assist in developing utility requirement documents and facility upgrade plans.
  • Support retrofit and expansion projects involving existing facility infrastructure.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • Local to Boise, ID or willing to relocate.
  • Ability to work onsite and support a hybrid work schedule as required.
  • Minimum 3 years of practical experience in chemical or mechanical facilities engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience supporting engineering design project delivery.
  • Experience with one or more of the following systems:
    • Ultrapure water systems
    • Chemical distribution systems
    • Gas distribution systems
    • Process piping systems
    • Industrial exhaust systems
    • Plumbing systems
    • Waste drain systems
    • Pumping systems
    • Tank storage and distribution systems
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and project coordination abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
  • Experience supporting semiconductor manufacturing facilities or cleanroom environments.
  • Knowledge of complex manufacturing tool installation, operation, or facility integration.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Field engineering or construction support experience.
  • EIT certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and adapt in fast-paced project environments.
  • Passion for industrial facilities, infrastructure design, and engineering excellence.
