Job Description

The Custodial Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily custodial operations across assigned school district facilities. This role leads custodial staff to ensure all schools, administrative buildings, and district facilities are maintained in a clean, safe, healthy, and welcoming condition for students, staff, and visitors. The Custodial Manager develops cleaning programs, manages staffing and budgets, ensures compliance with safety standards, and supports school activities and special events.

Job Responsibilities

Operations Management

  • Direct and oversee custodial operations across multiple school district facilities.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor cleaning schedules, preventative maintenance programs, and quality assurance standards.
  • Conduct routine facility inspections to ensure cleanliness, safety, and appearance standards are consistently met.
  • Respond to facility-related concerns and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Coordinate emergency response activities related to weather events, building incidents, and sanitation needs.

Staff Leadership

  • Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate custodial personnel.
  • Foster a positive, customer-focused work environment centered on service excellence.
  • Provide coaching, performance management, and professional development opportunities for staff.
  • Manage labor allocation and staffing levels to support operational needs and budget requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with district policies, collective bargaining agreements, and employment regulations where applicable.

Safety & Compliance

  • Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations, district policies, and environmental health and safety requirements.
  • Train staff on proper cleaning procedures, chemical handling, equipment operation, and workplace safety practices.
  • Ensure proper usage, storage, and inventory control of custodial supplies and chemicals.
  • Support infection prevention and sanitation programs consistent with public health guidelines.

Budget & Inventory Management

  • Develop and manage custodial operating budgets.
  • Monitor expenses and identify opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies.
  • Manage inventory levels and coordinate procurement of equipment, supplies, and cleaning products.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies, cleaning methods, and equipment improvements.

Customer Service & Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Partner with school administrators, teachers, maintenance staff, and district leadership to address facility needs.
  • Support after-hours activities, athletic events, community programs, and special district functions.
  • Respond promptly to service requests and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders regarding operational updates and service expectations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.Minimum 3-5 years of custodial, facilities, or environmental services experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Knowledge of custodial equipment, cleaning practices, floor care techniques, and sanitation procedures.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety standards.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and work order management systems.
  • Valid drivers license and ability to travel between district facilities.

COMPENSATION: The hourly rate or salary range for this position is $70,000 to $75,000. If both numbers are the same, that is the amount that Aramark expects to offer. This is Aramark's good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation for this position as of the time of posting.
