    Position Summary:

    Amkor Technology Arizona is seeking an experienced Facilities Ultra-Pure Water (UPW) Technician, responsible for operating, monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting the site's UPW production and distribution systems. This role ensures continuous supply of high‑purity water required for manufacturing and facility processes. The technician supports system startup, shutdown, maintenance, and optimization while ensuring all UPW equipment operates safely, efficiently, and within strict quality specifications.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Operate, monitor, and maintain UPW production equipment including multimedia filters, activated carbon beds, softeners, ultrafiltration (UF) units, reverse osmosis (RO) skids, EDI units, UVs, degasifiers, and polishing loops.
    • Maintain stable UPW distribution systems including storage tanks, recirculation loops, pumps, valves, flow control devices, and point‑of‑use (POU) instrumentation.
    • Perform routine system rounds, data logging, trend monitoring. Regularly monitor UPW quality parameters such as resistivity, TOC, dissolved oxygen (DO), silica, pH, and particle levels.
    • Respond to alarms and deviations from water quality specifications
    • Calibrate, verify, and maintain analytical instruments used across the UPW treatment process
    • Perform scheduled PMs on filters, membranes, dosing systems, pumps, valves, sensors, strainers, and instrumentation associated with UPW production and filtration systems.
    • Troubleshoot equipment failures, system trips, abnormal readings, or flow/pressure issues.
    • Support membrane cleaning procedures (CIP), resin changeouts, pre‑filter swaps, and chemical cleaning operations.
    • Follow proper hazmat handling, PPE requirements, spill response, and chemical storage procedures.
    • Maintain dosing systems and ensure chemical feed equipment functions correctly.
    • Maintain accurate operating logs, PM records, system parameters, quality tracking, and CMMS work orders.
    • Assist with commissioning of new UPW equipment or system expansions, including loop sanitization, equipment qualification, and performance testing.
    • Work with engineers and vendors to improve system efficiency, reliability, and water quality performance.
    • Support shutdown planning, system transitions, and emergency maintenance responses.

    Required Qualifications

    • High School Diploma required; Technical College or Trade Program preferred.
    • 3+ years of experience with UPW, water treatment, or industrial water systems (RO, UF, EDI, filtration).
    • Knowledge of water treatment processes, water chemistry, and high‑purity water system requirements.
    • Ability to read and understand P&IDs, system flow diagrams, and equipment manuals.
    • Experience using test instruments and monitoring equipment related to water quality.
    • Ability to work in mechanical spaces, tanks, utility areas, and water treatment rooms.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience in semiconductor, pharmaceutical, biotech, or high‑purity industrial water systems.
    • Certification in water treatment operations or related technical training.
    • Familiarity with BMS/SCADA systems used for UPW monitoring and control.
    • Experience with membrane systems (UF/RO/EDI) and distribution loop design.

    Physical Requirements

    • Ability to work in various weather conditions and awkward positions.
    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in mechanical spaces, rooftops, and equipment rooms.
    • Exposure to sharp, hot, and cold equipment.
    • Must be medically qualified to wear a respirator.
    • Ability to climb ladders, work at elevation, and in confined spaces with PPE.

    Location:

    Peoria, AZ. This position is onsite. During the construction phase and initial onboarding period, employees will work a standard Monday-Friday schedule of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. As the facility transitions into manufacturing operations, the role will move to a 12-hour compressed workweek schedule. Shift assignments may include day or night shifts, weekends, and holidays, and will be determined based on business and operational needs.
