    Description

    Tours facility and grounds to ensure that a safe and secure environment is maintained. Investigates facility alarms and determine what course of action is needed. Ensures all mechanical systems are functioning properly. Manage stock to support the facility par-levels and help to prepare inventories. This position will be required to work varied hours, weekends, holidays including days and evenings in the same week.

    Job Duties/Job Details:

    • Physical requirements require lifting up to 50lbs. maximum.
    • Frequent use of stairs both up and down, along with climbing ladders, is required.
    • Must be able to perform verbal and written interaction with patients, fellow employees and other departments.
    • Ability to meet time standards for completion of work orders and assigned PM's.
    • Ability to handle multiple priorities.
    • Basic knowledge of operation and maintenance of various types of equipment used in the hospital.
    • Good communication and organizational skills.
    • Demonstrate initiative in assuming responsibilities.

    • Uses snakes, augers, or plungers to open clogged drains.
    • Troubleshoots and replaces TV's, remote controls, nurse call lights, etc.
    • Proficiently uses standard hand tools, voltmeter, and amp meter.
    • Performs a variety of routine manual duties as required, such as repairs and assembling carts and furniture, replacing fluorescent ballasts and tubes, cleaning and lubricating motors, changing air filters, etc.
    • Sometimes required to move supplies, furniture and equipment, removing trash and scrap materials, housekeeping duties, etc.
    • Conducts routine safety and preventive maintenance inspections to ensure that services are maintained without interruption.
    • Patch and paint walls as needed.
    • Maintains established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives concerning quality assurance, safety, environmental conditions, and infection control.
    • Assumes responsibility for personal and professional growth through participation in departmental meetings, in-service programs, and continuing education programs.
    • Ability to work a flex schedule and be available for overtime call-back for emergencies (On-call).
    • Some travel to alternate facility.
    • Employees will be required to perform any other job-related requirements as instructed by their supervisor(s), subject to reasonable accommodation.

    Required Skills:

    High School graduate or equivalent. Basic Healthcare Security knowledge.

    Required Experience:

    Specific Job Experience:

    • Minimum 2 years relevant experience in the maintenance field (preferably in a hospital setting).
    • Performs routine and preventative maintenance.
    • Responsible for general and emergency maintenance throughout the facility.
    • Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment.
    • Preferred Joint Commission knowledge.
    • Will be the backup Safety officer for the facility.
    • Desired: any form of license or certification in HVAC, plumbing or electrical.
