Are you the person everyone calls when something needs to be built, repaired, painted, installed, connected, or just figured out?
MDP Automotive is looking for a skilled, dependable Facilities & Projects Technician to help take ownership of repairs, improvements, maintenance, remodeling, and projects across our growing company.
We currently have locations in Jackson and Ann Arbor and are working toward adding a third location, so there is no shortage of projects ahead.
This isn't a janitorial or basic maintenance position.
We're looking for someone who is good with their hands, takes pride in their work, can think for themselves, and knows how to get things done.
Every week could look a little different. Projects may include:
One day you might be painting and finishing an office. The next you could be building shelving, repairing drywall, installing equipment, setting up a workspace, or helping us transform a new location.
We want someone who enjoys that variety.
If you're also comfortable with IT, networking, low-voltage, cameras, computers, Wi-Fi, or technology installation, that's a major plus.
That could include:
You don't need to be an IT professional.
But someone who can build a wall, hang a TV, run the network cable to it, set up the equipment, and figure out why something isn't working would be an extremely valuable person on our team.
You don't have to be a master of every trade.
We're looking for someone who:
Experience in carpentry, painting, remodeling, construction, facilities maintenance, low-voltage, networking, or IT is highly valued.
This position can start around 20 hours per week, with the possibility of additional hours depending on our projects and your availability.
We're flexible.
This could work well for someone looking for consistent part-time work, someone transitioning out of another trade position, or someone who wants to prove themselves and eventually make this their full-time career.
For the right person, we see a very real opportunity for this position to grow into a full-time role with benefits.
As we continue adding locations, we expect the responsibilities and opportunities within this position to grow as well.
Most work can be completed during normal weekday hours, although occasional flexibility for an evening or weekend project may be helpful when work needs to be completed around business operations.
$27–$35 per hour, depending on experience and capabilities.
We're willing to pay more for someone who brings multiple valuable skill sets and can independently handle projects from start to finish.
As the position grows into full-time, benefits may include:
For the right person, the tools, equipment, and resources needed to do the job properly can be provided.
As the relationship, responsibilities, and travel between locations develop, a company vehicle may also be provided.
We're looking to invest in the right person—not simply hire someone to complete a punch list.
We're growing, and we're constantly improving.
As we expand, we want one person who can become our go-to person for facilities, repairs, projects, improvements, technology installations, and new-location buildouts.
This position has the potential to become much more than a part-time maintenance job.
For the right person, it could grow into a career where you have significant independence, responsibility, and ownership over the facilities and projects side of a growing multi-location company.
If you're the person your friends, family, or coworkers call when something needs to be built, repaired, installed, improved, connected, or figured out, you might be exactly who we're looking for.
