Description
Jackson State University, an NCAA Division I (FCS) member of the NCAA and Southwestern Athletic Conference, invites applicants for the position of Facilities Maint Repairer II. Under the direction of the Assistant Athletic Director for External Operations & Stadium Management, the Facilities Maintenance Repairer II will assume a variety of important maintenance duties in developing and carrying out department activities within the Division of Athletics.
Examples of Duties
This positions duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist the supervisor in grooming and maintaining all athletics fields (mowing, weed-eating, and other maintenance needs).
- Perform maintenance and minor repairs on equipment, buildings, and grounds.
- Perform the application of chemical treatments for athletics fields and grounds at both the stadium and main campus.
- Prepare the football field for each game in accordance with NCAA regulations.
- Barricade entrances and exits for traffic flow on event day.
- Provide preventative maintenance on buildings and equipment after football season by winterizing the Press Box and restrooms.
- Responsible for the maintenance of lights and fixtures throughout the Stadium.
- Responsible for the preparation for events and supervising maintenance and cleaning of restrooms, ticket booths, Press Box, First Aid Stations, and concourse.
- Set up and remove athletics equipment following events.
- Facilitate athletics areas in preparation for sporting events and contests, including line marking, watering, dragging, dressing, reconditioning, and grooming athletics fields, areas, and facilities.
- Maintain and inventory outdoor materials, supplies, equipment and departmental grounds vehicles used for athletics training and instruction; order equipment as needed in a timely fashion.
- Utilize insecticides, fertilizers, and chemical sprays to treat diseases.
- Keep grounds free from trash, litter, and debris, and empty trash receptacles.
- Conduct basic irrigation audits and perform basic irrigation repairs.
- Prepare facilities before the start of each season.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Typical Qualifications
Applicant must have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED, plus three (3) years of experience in work related to the described duties.
