Facilities Maintenance Helper

Essence Hospitality Group is looking for a dependable, hands-on Facilities Maintenance Helper to assist our Facilities Manager with the day-to-day upkeep of our three Grand Rapids restaurant properties.

This is a good opportunity for someone who enjoys working with their hands, likes variety in their workday, and wants to learn more about building maintenance and repairs. You do not need to be a skilled tradesperson. We are looking for someone who is reliable, comfortable using basic tools, willing to learn, and takes pride in keeping things working and looking their best.

What You'll Do

Working under the direction of our Facilities Manager, you will assist with:

• Basic repairs and maintenance projects
• Painting, patching and touch-up work
• Replacing hardware, fixtures and other basic building items
• Moving, assembling and installing furniture or equipment
• Preventative maintenance tasks
• Outdoor and seasonal property upkeep
• Organizing tools, equipment and maintenance supplies
• Detailed facility cleaning in areas outside normal restaurant cleaning
• Cleaning vents, piping, walls, windowsills and other hard-to-reach areas
• Identifying maintenance concerns and communicating them to the Facilities Manager
• Helping with larger repair and improvement projects as needed
• Traveling between our three Grand Rapids restaurant locations

What We're Looking For

You do not need years of maintenance experience. The right person will be:

• Dependable and able to show up consistently
• Comfortable working with basic hand and power tools
• Willing to learn new skills
• Able to follow instructions and complete a task list
• Detail-oriented and able to notice when something needs attention
• Comfortable working independently on assigned tasks once trained
• Able to safely lift, carry, climb, bend and perform physical work throughout the day
• Able to travel between EHG restaurant locations

Basic maintenance, construction, painting, landscaping, custodial or handyman experience is helpful, but not required.

Starting wage: $18/hour, with opportunity for wage growth based on experience, demonstrated skills and increased responsibility.
