Description

General Summary:

This is a Temporary position that works in the city's right-of-way and facilities under general supervision.

The Public Works Department currently has two (2) positions available:

  • Maintenance Yard Facilities - building/grounds maintenance, janitorial duties, recycled materials, waste, graffiti, forklift/small equipment, and ABOP handling.
  • Parkways - landscape and parkway maintenance, weed abatement, litter/debris removal, grounds, trails, and right-of-way maintenance.
  • The Public Works Director, or designee, is authorized to change or reassign the successful candidate's operational assignment when deemed necessary to support the needs and operations of the Department.

  • None

Examples of Duties

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Traffic sign and marking maintenance and installation.
  • Concrete maintenance and installation.
  • Asphalt maintenance and installation.
  • Recycled items collection and storage.
  • Graffiti removal.
  • Weed abatement.
  • Waste removal.
  • Building and grounds maintenance.
  • Building Janitorial Duties.
  • Small equipment operations.
  • Operation of forklift.
  • Collection and handling of anti-freeze, batteries, oil, and paint (ABOP).
  • Landscape Maintenance.
  • Trail, right-of-way and street maintenance including litter and debris removal.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

The duties listed above are not intended to be all-inclusive. An employee may also perform other related duties as assigned by their immediate supervisor. This position is considered non-exempt.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Good communication skills

  • Current valid driver's license
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for acceptable job performance
  • Currently enrolled in a college, university, or trade school highly desirable
  • Certifications in Traffic Control Management, Concrete, Asphalt, Signs and Markings, HVAC, or Pesticide Applicators highly desirable
