The ideal candidate will be able to work in a group or alone, assisting other trade departments as required. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Reports to Facility Manager or Maintenance Foreman for daily work tasks.Assist in maintaining spare parts list.Assist in the care and maintenance of rolling stock, forklifts, small engines, etc.Assist in the care and preventive maintenance of all office, rental, and trades work golf carts, batteries, tire pressures, etc.Assist in the maintenance of dry dock equipment, pump room, caisson, and any external devices.Assist with all maintenance on the ship lift and transfer cars.Assist in yearly maintenance inspections of ship lift and SEDCON systems.Responsible for some repair and maintenance of main office building and outbuildings.Assist with maintenance of 5 cooling towers.Participate in competent persons training during required timeframe set by management.Sand, scrape, and paint facility equipment.Responsible for keeping following areas clean and organized at all times: HAZMAT and tote storage, rear pipe shop, recycle bin, transfer car pad and rails, front roll off area.Operate forklift, scissor lift, man lift, sweeper, lawn mower, leaf blower, and all other equipment being maintained.Practice the safe and proper handling of hazardous and non-hazardous waste, used oil, coolant, solvents, etc.Available to work overtime, weekends and holidays as needed.Other duties as assigned by Manager. Safety and Environmental Responsibilities Follow SHM Safety and Environmental rules and complete required related training.Wear proper personal protective equipment (may include safety glasses, gloves, life jackets and/or hard hats) as required for the task or work area. Report all accidents, injuries, spills and near misses immediately.
