Facilities Engineer:
POSITION SUMMARY:
Install, maintain and repair heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC), other building mechanical and electrical systems, plant-wide electronic control systems and distribution center equipment. Perform skilled tasks in accordance with standard practices of the air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, and construction trades.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Install, alter, maintain, troubleshoot and repair building systems and equipment including HVAC,
refrigeration, plumbing, electrical distribution, lighting, fire protection, hydraulics, pneumatics, steam, boilers, pumps, compressors, and engines.
* Maintain, troubleshoot and repair distribution center equipment and systems including conveyors, power transmission equipment, packaging machinery, and controls.
* Operate, maintain and repair pneumatic, electric, electronic, and computer-based building
management systems and HVAC controls.
* Program, troubleshoot and repair programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and other microprocessor based and electronic controls. Assist other employees and departments with the same on equipment and systems plant wide.
* Test electronic components and circuits to locate defects.
* Test and maintain water chemistry and treatment standards in boilers, cooling towers, and closed loop piping systems.
* Maintain records for machinery operation, maintenance, repair, calibration, and testing.
* Purchase maintenance, repair, and operating supplies, parts, equipment and tools.
* Under the direction of and/or consultation with the Facilities Manager or other members of
management, coordinate efforts of contractors and other employees working on facility equipment.
* Report equipment status and material readiness.
* Make recommendations on the design, selection, construction, and installation of building equipment and systems.
* Respond to fires, accidents, hazardous spills, equipment failures, and other emergencies based on level of training.
* Maintain a safe and clean work environment at all times.
* Maintain a cooperative, constructive attitude and work effectively with others.
* Overtime (e.g. reporting to work after hours, responding via phone or internet connection) to tend to emergencies or alarms is required.
* Regular attendance, punctuality, dependability.
* Perform other duties as assigned/required.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPRIENCE
1. Skills and Knowledge:
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
* Demonstrate considerable skill in and knowledge of practices, methods, tools, equipment, and
materials of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and electronic technician trades.
* Must have training and experience in programming, troubleshooting and repair of PLCs, and
other electronic controls.
* Ability to read and interpret technical and construction drawings.
* Ability to read and develop electric/electronic schematics, control diagrams and ladder logic
diagrams.
* Ability to write routine reports and records annotations.
* Ability to communicate effectively.
* Ability to read, and interpret documents (e.g. safety policy, GMPs, SOPs).
* Ability to count, add, subtract, multiply and divide.
* Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
* Ability to deal with problems involving variables in standard or complex situations.
* Ability to work in fast paced environment.
2. Minimum Education/Experience:
* High school diploma, general education degree (GED), Vocational/technical certificate, 3 years
accredited vocational or trade school, or 5 years relevant experience in similar position.

* NJ Boiler Operator"s license (minimum Black Seal) High Pressure
* EPA Refrigerant Recovery license

* Frequently required to stand and/or walk.

* Occasional exposure to outside weather conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, dusty and dirty environments, excessive noise levels and potentially hazardous chemicals.
* Occasional exposure to moving mechanical machinery, live electrical circuits, and other hazardous energy sources.
* Personal protective equipment such as gloves, safety glasses, goggles, steel-toed boots, ear
plugs/muffs will be required and provided.
SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITY:
This position has no supervisory responsibility.
* In terms of an eight hour work day:
Occasionally = 1-3 hours Frequently = 3-5 hours Continuously = 5-8 hours
