Facilities Engineer (All Levels)

SummaryAnalyze, estimate, plan and manage routine facilities projects with support from senior facility engineers. Will coordinate with various internal and external customers to meet project goals. May direct one or more routine projects at a time. Must have good communicative skills - both written and verbal.Physical DemandsWork occurs in both an outdoor shipyard environment and in an office setting. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus. Position requires the ability to distinguish color. Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, operate computer keyboard and controls, and communicate verbally and in writing. Requires ability to commute physically to various areas of the shipyard including but not limited to shipboard activities. Work at heights, position requires the ability to walk on scaffolding and work at heights aboard vessels under construction or repair. Must be capable of ascending/descending stairs or ladders, walking on uneven surfaces, and transiting through manholes and other confined, congested spaces. Carry, lift, push or pull; position requires employees to carry, raise, lower, push or pull objects up to 15 lbs. Physical dexterity must allow for bending and reaching. Must remain alert and comply with all safety requirements. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is exposed occasionally to dust, fumes, and smoke. Must be able to spend up to 50% of time in an outdoor shipyard environment in all climates. The noise level is relatively low to moderate in office environments. The noise level in the outdoor shipyard production environment is moderate to noisy 70% of time which may include sirens, horns, chipping, and hammering.Working RelationsReports to the Manager of Facilities Engineering or delegate. Liaison closely with Maintenance, Supply Chain, Safety, Planning, Rigging, Engineering, Subcontractors, Vendors and other NASSCO departments as appropriate.AccountabilityAccountable for the safety, quality and timeliness of each procurement. It takes into account the wide range of factors considered in making compensation decisions; including but not limited to skill sets, experience, training, and education.
