As an Electrical Engineer with Tesla s Facilities team, you will play an integral role in the growth and maintenance of our facilities. Candidates should possess facilities operations and direct construction experience building high-tech infrastructure (from industries such as semiconductors, solar, battery, etc.). This is an on-site position to support 24/7 manufacturing facilities located near Sparks, NV.

  • Serve as the ultimate system owner for electrical equipment, bridging the gap between front-end engineering design and real-world field operations
  • Support and oversee complex Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) activities for low and medium, voltage systems, ensuring strict adherence to site safety, NFPA 70E, and OSHA standards
  • Lead and participate heavily in start-up and commissioning activities. Act as the primary technical point of contact in the field to troubleshoot real-time issues, address punch-list items, and ensure seamless handovers
  • Troubleshoot field issues across 120V to utility-level systems, performing root cause analysis on equipment failures and implementing corrective actions
  • Evaluate design drawings and oversee construction execution
  • Perform energy audits, provide energy usage calculations, circuit analysis for critical loads throughout the plant, power quality analys and identification of energy saving opportunities
  • Operate equipment and program/adjust medium voltage relays and breaker settings
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities with key stakeholders and engineering groups
  • Assist Facilities Operations and Maintenance in creating maintenance plans, scopes of work for electrical testing vendors, planning of outages and supporting the coordination of downtime activities between stakeholders (construction, facilities, and manufacturing)
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or higher and a minimum of 5 years of experience with evidence of exceptional ability building high-tech infrastructure and operational facilities (semiconductor, solar, battery, etc.), or equivalent experience
  • Professional registration as an Electrical Engineer in the State of Nevada or from another state with the ability to obtain reciprocity is preferred
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work in an extremely fast-paced environment
  • Ability to interface with engineers and technicians from multiple disciplines
  • Experience with complex power distribution systems including - Design, operating/maintaining the equipment, troubleshooting and programming /adjusting medium voltage relays; ability to read electric utility system drawings (one-lines, three-lines, schematics, etc.)
  • Excellent verbal and written skills along with the ability to effectively communicate at the executive level
  • Experience in the following Electric utility system analysis software (SKM Power Tools preferred) to perform load-flow, fault-duty, protective device coordination, and arc-flash studies; experience performing engineering economic studies and making recommendations to management and stakeholders
  • Well versed and significant experience in electric utility system safe work practices in accordance with the OSHA, HAZMAT safety protocols and other applicable codes and standards (IEEE C37, C57, etc.); National Electrical Code, NFPA 70E, and IEEE 1584
