Position Summary
The Fabrication Foreman is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the fabrication department in an engineer-to-order (ETO) manufacturing environment. This role ensures that fabricated components for industrial equipment are produced accurately, efficiently, and according to customer specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements. The Foreman leads a team of welders, fitters, and fabricators and works closely with Engineering, Quality, Production Planning, and Plant Management to support successful project execution.
Essential Functions

Supervise and coordinate daily activities of fabrication personnel, including welding, fitting, and layout tasks.
Interpret and execute engineered drawings, weld maps, and build plans for custom industrial equipment.
Monitor work orders to ensure jobs stay on schedule and within budgeted labor hours.
Assign tasks based on production priorities, employee skill levels, and material availability.
Provide materials to employees to ensure proper workflow.
Ensure adherence to safety protocols, company policies, and OSHA regulations.
Perform quality checks throughout the fabrication process and coordinate with QA/QC on inspections and non-conformance reports.
Train and mentor team members on welding procedures, blueprint reading, shop math, and ETO documentation practices.
Track and report key metrics such as labor efficiency, first-pass yield, and job completion status.
Collaborate with Engineering, Planning, and Inventory Control to resolve material shortages or design issues.
Enforce proper use and maintenance of tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
Support continuous improvement initiatives related to layout optimization, labor efficiency, and fabrication best practices.
Ensure compliance with ASME and OSHA regulations according to quality standards, documentation requirements, and blueprint specifications.
Ensure employee labor hours are accurately charged to the appropriate jobs and submit weekly payroll reporting.
Administer employee management activities including training, work planning, assigning and directing work, performance reviews, pay recommendations, complaint resolution, problem-solving, and disciplinary actions.
Required Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
5 years of demonstrated experience and/or training.
Ability to read Blueprints and engineering fabrication drawings.
Knowledge of ASME quality control procedures as per shop manual.
Strong welding knowledge and application, Mig, Tig, Subarc, Stick and fluxcore. Ability to recommend proper procedures for specific jobs and provide guidance to laborers.
Strong leadership, supervisory skills, organizational, problem solving, and project management skills.
