Job Summary:
Our client is seeking two experienced F5 Architects with deep expertise in application delivery and workload security to join the global network engineering team of a leading pharmaceutical company. In this role, you will own the design and evolution of the enterprise application delivery environment built on F5 and Cisco Secure Workload, making sure business-critical applications are fast, available, and secure across data center and cloud environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the architecture, standards, and roadmap for the enterprise application delivery platform, including F5 BIG-IP (LTM, GTM/DNS, ASM/Advanced WAF, APM) and related F5 services.
- Design and implement load balancing, global server load balancing, SSL/TLS offload, and web application firewall solutions for on-premises and cloud-hosted applications.
- Architect and maintain Cisco Secure Workload (formerly Tetration) for application dependency mapping, workload visibility, and microsegmentation policy.
- Partner with application, security, and cloud teams to onboard new applications and translate their requirements into delivery and segmentation designs.
- Develop high- and low-level designs, configuration standards, and implementation plans for new deployments, migrations, and platform upgrades.
- Lead lifecycle management of F5 hardware, virtual editions, and software versions to keep platforms current and supported.
- Serve as a senior escalation point for complex application delivery issues, leading root cause analysis and driving long-term fixes.
- Build automation for F5 configuration and policy changes, and produce clear documentation and runbooks for operations teams.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 8+ years of enterprise network or application delivery engineering experience, including 3+ years in an architect or senior design role
- Deep hands-on expertise with F5 BIG-IP, including LTM, GTM/DNS, and ASM/Advanced WAF; experience with APM is a plus
- Hands-on experience designing or operating Cisco Secure Workload (Tetration) for visibility and microsegmentation
- Strong working knowledge of iRules, iApps/AS3, SSL/TLS, HTTP, DNS, and TCP/IP
- Experience supporting application delivery in hybrid environments across data center and public cloud (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Proven ability to produce architecture documents, design standards, and implementation plans
- Strong communication skills and comfort working with application owners, security teams, and business stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with F5 Distributed Cloud, BIG-IP Next, or NGINX
- Automation experience using Ansible, Terraform, Python, or F5 declarative APIs (AS3/DO)
- Experience in a pharmaceutical, life sciences, or other regulated (GxP) environment
- Familiarity with zero trust and application segmentation frameworks
