F&B Purchasing and Receiving Manager

Position Summary:

The Purchasing & Receiving Manager is responsible for coordinating purchasing and receiving functions of the Food & Beverage department, as well as overseeing on-mountain Haul Cat Operations and logistics. As a member of the F&B management team, you will work closely with the Executive Chef, Executive Sous Chef, Director of Restaurants, and Food & Beverage Director to address operational issues, develop strategies, and work to grow the efficiency and productivity of the department. The Purchasing & Receiving Manager will manage receipt of product, movement of product across the resort, and manage PO and invoice processes from start to finish. This is an integral role for the Food & Beverage department. The ideal candidate for this position will be highly detail oriented with a background in food & beverage operations.

Job Requirements:

• Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
• Must be able to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
• Position requires frequent bending, reaching overhead, twisting, kneeling, crouching, and consistent use of hands, fingers, and arms.
• Must be able to stand and walk for an extended period or for an entire work shift in indoor/outdoor environments.
• Regularly required to talk, hear, adjust vision to both day and night lighting and be able to focus on distant and close-range projects.
• Available to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays. Schedule can vary between 5am-9pm, weekends and holidays.
• Position requires handling of food and beverage products potentially containing but not limited to: dairy, gluten, soy, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, sesame, garlic, onions, shellfish, or fin fish.
• Position requires potential exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, steam, and extreme heat and cold.
• Position requires potential exposure to and use of toxic or caustic chemicals.
• Ability to accurately read and make measurements.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in various units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
• Strong computer skills and ability to perform administrative functions as necessitated and as assigned.
• Ability to travel to Snowbasin for scheduled shifts.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Read, understand, and abide by the employee handbook and resort & department polices & procedures.
• Maintain a positive work environment by managing, leading, teaching, coaching, working and communicating in a courteous and professional manner with all guests, co-workers, and vendors.
• Maintain awareness of all state & federal sanitation procedures relevant to the department.
• Support the financial goals of the department, including budget goals, which would include scheduling to variable business levels and expense control.
• Under direction of F&B Director, a focus on sustainability practices built into standard operating procedures and daily operations.
• Coach & mentor subordinate employees through training and positive guidance.
• Issue corrective action to subordinates as needed, and build plans to correct issues and solve performance problems.
• Coordinate the receipt, distribution, and transport of goods for the Food & Beverage department.
• Facilitate the pickup of alcohol purchases through the state DABS.
• Oversee staffing, training, and execution of both the Receiving and Haul Cat Operational teams.
• Coordinate and oversee F&B Receiver team to be sure that all received product is correct, meets department standards, is within proper temperature range, matches invoices, is stored correctly in proper areas, as well as staged correctly for transport by Haul Cat operations.
• Ensure Receiving team properly manages central storage areas and loading dock and that these areas stay clean and organized per department standard.
• Coordinate F&B Receiver team to be sure that all temperature and receiving records are complete, organized, and available to the Health Department.
• Coordinate proper training and certification of Haul Cat operators in cooperation with Resort Safety and Vehicle Maintenance teams.
• Coordinate and oversee Haul Cat Operations to be sure that all product is safely and efficiently delivered to respective outlets, while maintaining all food safety and HACCP standards.
• Work closely with the Vehicle Maintenance team to ensure that the Haul Cat equipment is routinely maintained, and that any problems are promptly reported.
• Maintain a strong working relationship with resort Accounting and Accounts Payable teams.
• Maintain all purchasing records needed for accounting and for DABS compliance.
• Work with Food & Beverage Director and resort Executive Chef to develop ordering practices and guidelines for all Food & Beverage Managers and Chefs.
• Keep current all department order guides and pricing within in resort’s purchasing system.
• Ensure that all POs are followed through the purchasing process to completion.
• Work with Accounts Payable to ensure that all invoices are received and paid.
• Participates in and promotes safety & accident prevention.
• Acts as steward for and maintains all company assets.
• Perform any additional duties as requested by management.

Qualifications:

• Must be 21 years of age
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• 2+ years of purchasing & receiving experience or relevant food & beverage operations experience
• 2+ years of management experience preferred
• Valid Driver’s License
• Utah Food Handler’s Permit
• ServSafe Manager Certification
• SIPS & TIPS Certification
