    Extracurricular School Food Delivery and Service Position

    Position Summary

    The Extracurricular School Food Delivery and Service position is responsible for transporting prepared meals from South Middle School to MTEC, serving the meals to students and/or staff, and returning the dishes and food-service equipment to South Middle School for cleaning and storage. This position supports the school nutrition program by ensuring meals are transported safely, delivered on schedule, and served appropriately.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Pick up prepared meals, food, beverages, dishes, and related food-service items from South Middle School.
    • Transport food and supplies to MTEC using an MCS van.
    • Safely load, secure, and unload food and food-service items.
    • Serve and distribute meals at MTEC in accordance with school and food-service procedures.
    • Maintain appropriate cleanliness and food-safety practices while handling and serving meals.
    • Collect used dishes, serving equipment, and other reusable food-service items after meal service.
    • Return dishes and food-service equipment to South Middle School for cleaning and storage.
    • Use a personal vehicle for transportation when the MCS van is unavailable due to an infrequent conflicting school-related use, as directed.
    • Maintain a clean and orderly vehicle and food-transport area.
    • Follow all applicable county, school, transportation, and food-service policies and procedures.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications and Abilities

    • Must possess a valid Food Handler's Card or be willing to obtain one within the timeframe established by the school/county.
    • Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle and maintain a valid driver's license.
    • Ability to see sufficiently to safely drive, transport, handle, and serve food.
    • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
    • Ability to safely load and unload food, dishes, containers, and supplies.
    • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and established food-safety procedures.
    • Dependable attendance and punctuality.
    • Ability to interact professionally and courteously with students, school staff, and other personnel.
    • Ability to work independently and complete assigned duties within established timeframes.

    Transportation

    A county van will normally be provided for transportation of meals and supplies. On infrequent occasions when the county van is being used for another school-related purpose, the employee may be required to use their personal vehicle for transportation, in accordance with applicable county policies.

    Working Conditions

    The position requires regular driving, walking, standing, bending, reaching, loading and unloading, and lifting or carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds. The employee may work in school kitchens, cafeterias, storage areas, and other school facilities.
