This recruitment will be used to fill one (1) part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) External Relations Career Assistant for the Career Development Center at Oregon State University (OSU).
The External Relations Career Assistant supports the mission of the Career Development Center as an essential member of the External Relations team. The External Relations team is responsible for cultivating and deepening relationships with employers and community partners with the goal of increasing access to jobs and internships for OSU students. Our team is also responsible for planning and executing career fairs and other career related events, and for managing Handshake, the primary source for jobs, internships, and career events on OSU's campus.
Through this position, the External Relations Career Assistant will develop core competencies that will better prepare them for careers after graduation. These skills include, but are not limited to: professional communication, data analysis and management, and event support. The Career Assistant will also learn about recruiting and talent acquisition best practices and create connections with employers across varied industries.

Position Duties
Communicate with employers recruiting at OSU by handling queries received through email and phone
Support the ER team in data entry, collection and analysis related to student job and internship placement
Support planning and implementation of Career Development Center events including career fairs, networking events, employer information sessions and tabling
Manage Handshake activity, including approval job and event requests and data management and analysis
Support External Relations in completing administrative tasks that support the mission of the Center
Complete special projects intended to enhance connections between potential employers and OSU students
Help to create an inclusive and welcoming environment for all visitors to the Career Development Center, both virtually and in person
Attend and participate in regular staff trainings
Mentorship of two Interns
Minimum Qualifications

Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*
International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered "full-time" by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
Additional Required Qualifications
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong organizational and time management skills
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel
Ability to work well both individually and as part of a team
Demonstrated ability to value, respect, learn and interact respectfully with all people and understand individuals' differences.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
Preferred (Special) Qualifications
Working Conditions / Work Schedule
One academic year, contingent upon employee maintaining satisfactory job performance as evaluated by supervisor. Expected to work 6-15 hours per week & must have availability for mornings, and some late evenings and weekends.
