    Job Title: Corporate Accountant
    Location: Mechanicsville, VA

    Department: Finance
    Reports To: Corporate Controller 

    Job Summary:

    We are seeking a highly experienced and analytical Corporate Accountant to play a critical role in managing complex accounting tasks and ensuring the integrity of our financial reporting. This position is ideal for a seasoned professional with deep knowledge of corporate accounting principles, regulatory compliance, and financial analysis. The Senior Corporate Accountant will lead month-end closings, support audits, assist with strategic financial planning, and mentor junior staff.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Lead and manage the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
    2. Prepare and review journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, and financial statements in accordance with GAAP (or IFRS).
    3. Analyze financial results and prepare internal reporting packages for senior leadership.
    4. Assist in the development of financial forecasts, annual budgets, and variance analyses.
    5. Coordinate and support internal and external audits, including preparation of audit schedules and documentation.
    6. Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal control policies.
    7. Oversee fixed asset accounting, intercompany reconciliations, and accruals.
    8. Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities to enhance reporting efficiency.
    9. Serve as a technical accounting resource and advisor to the finance team.
    10. Mentor and provide guidance to junior accountants and support their development.

    Qualifications:

    1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
    2. CPA certification required (or equivalent international designation).
    3. Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a corporate or public accounting environment.
    4. Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting standards.
    5. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, QuickBooks Online (QBO), and experience with ERP/accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).
    6. Strong attention to detail, with exceptional organizational and analytical skills.
    7. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
    8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience presenting financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
