    External Adjunct - Chemistry

    Position Description

    Job Summary:

    SUNY Sullivan is accepting applications for a part-time, adjunct faculty position to teach General Chemistry.

    The individual must possess the ability to teach seated lecture and laboratory sections of General Chemistry I and II. These courses are scheduled to be taught on campus.

    Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate a commitment to the community college philosophy and a culture of belonging.

    Qualifications:

    • Master''s degree in chemistry or related sciences, Ph.D in chemistry or related sciences preferred
    • At least three (3) years of teaching or equivalent experience
    • Experience working in higher education environment preferred

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Teach up to 14 contact hours of general chemistry courses, as well as potential additional courses related to the applicant''s area of professional expertise
    • Candidates must be able to demonstrate excellence in teaching and possess the ability to effectively interact with a diverse student and employee population
    • Hold reliable, appropriate office hours
    • Take part as needed in advising/mentoring students, developing curricula, recruiting students, and attending division and faculty meetings
