Facilities Services responsibilities include Interior and Exterior Facilities Support, Construction, Space Management, and Environmental Services.
Job Summary
Responsible for safely performing duties related to identifying and cleaning outdoor areas on all campuses using hydraulic pressure washing equipment. Areas to be cleaned include sidewalks, benches, brick and concrete structures, and other surfaces below 10 feet in height as assigned. Candidate will assist the campus Grounds Team with miscellaneous minor tasks as needed if inclement weather or other needs arise.
Responsibilities
The job duties include, but are not limited to:
Pressure Washing Operations
Perform scheduled and on-demand pressure washing of sidewalks, building exteriors, stairways, entryways, outdoor seating areas, loading docks, signage, recreational spaces, trash receptacles, and other hardscape surfaces.
Remove dirt, mold, algae, stains, graffiti, and other surface contaminants.
Select appropriate pressure settings, nozzles, detergents, and cleaning techniques for various surface types (concrete, brick, stone, metal, synthetic surfaces, etc.).
Ensure completed work meets or exceeds campus cleanliness and appearance standards.
Safely operate pressure washing equipment (cold-water, hot-water, and trailer-mounted units) keeping pedestrians and nearby vehicles safe.
Inspect equipment before and after use; perform basic troubleshooting and minor maintenance to equipment.
Maintain hoses, nozzles, wands, chemical injection systems, and associated tools.
Report equipment failures or service needs to supervisors promptly.
Identify surface conditions and adjust methods to avoid damage to adjacent buildings, landscaping, signage, or infrastructure.
Utilize appropriate containment or barriers to protect pedestrians, vehicles, and other sensitive areas.
Perform seasonal cleaning tasks such as mold and pollen removal during peak months.
Safety
Follow institutional safety protocols, including required PPE, chemical handling, and safe equipment operation.
Establish work zones with cones, barricades, and proper signage to ensure pedestrian safety.
Adhere to environmental regulations related to water runoff, wastewater containment, and chemical use.
Immediately report safety hazards, spills, or incidents.
Communication
Maintain logs of completed work, areas serviced, and materials used.
Communicate effectively with campus departments regarding scheduled cleaning activities.
Respond professionally to service requests from faculty, staff, and students.
Coordinate with Grounds, EVS, Operations, and EHS teams when needed.
Additional Grounds and Landscaping Support
Assist Landscaping and Grounds team with related exterior maintenance tasks when pressure washing is not required, such as weeding, debris removal, event set up, and other light landscaping duties.
Performs any other duties and assignments as instructed by supervisor.
Required Qualifications
High School diploma or GED from a recognized state or federal accredited organization. Minimum of 1 year of experience working with pressure washing equipment, exterior cleaning, grounds maintenance, or related facilities work. Current drivers license to operate vehicles. Must meet USG requirements and AU policy to operate vehicles.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with commercial grade pressure washing equipment preferred, knowledge of operating machinery and safety aspects related to machinery.

Working knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of pressure washing trade.
Knowledge of safe chemical handling and dilution practices.
SKILLS
Skill in the use and care of tools and equipment of grounds trade.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days: Monday - Friday
Pay Band: 3
Salary Minimum: $16.54/hour
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
