The Exterior Lighting Engineer supports the design and development of automotive exterior lighting systems, including headlamps, tail lamps, center light panels, and corner lamps. The engineer works with Styling, Manufacturing, and Tier-I suppliers to perform feasibility studies, develop lighting components, evaluate manufacturability, and release production-ready designs. The role uses CATIA V6 and requires knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes, supplier collaboration, and interpretation of simulation results.
- Good knowledge of Automotive exterior lighting systems along with key components (Head Lamp, Tail Lamp, Center light panel, corner lamps).
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 0-3 years of experience in automotive interior and exterior lighting design.
- Work with Styling team to perform feasibility studies, check A-class surface and define craftsmanship target.
- Ability to create and completion of all lighting components and perform manufacturing feasibility.
- Design of automotive component parts in CATIA V6.
- Actively engage with Tier-I suppliers to collaborate on design projects for trading off cost, mass, joining methods, molding and testing performance.
- Good knowledge of manufacturing processes.
- Complete and release lighting components, sub-system and detail designs.
- Interpret simulation results and integrate recommendations into product design.
Qualification:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
- Design and develop automotive exterior lighting components and systems.
- Work with Styling teams on feasibility studies, A-class surface reviews, and craftsmanship targets.
- Design automotive lighting components using CATIA V6.
- Develop and complete component, subsystem, and detailed lighting designs.
- Perform manufacturing feasibility assessments.
- Collaborate with Tier-I suppliers on cost, mass, joining methods, molding, tooling, and performance.
- Apply knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes to product development.
- Complete and release lighting components and subsystems.
- Review and interpret simulation/CAE results.
- Incorporate engineering recommendations into product designs.
- Support cross-functional design reviews and product development activities.
- Ensure lighting designs meet quality, manufacturability, cost, and performance requirements.
