About the Role:

The Automotive Express Technician plays a critical role in ensuring vehicles receive timely and efficient maintenance services, primarily focusing on oil changes, tire rotations, and lubrication tasks. This position is essential for maintaining vehicle performance, safety, and longevity by performing routine inspections and fluid replacements. The technician will work in a fast-paced environment, delivering high-quality service while adhering to safety and environmental standards. They will interact directly with customers, providing clear explanations of services performed and recommendations for additional maintenance when necessary. Ultimately, this role contributes to customer satisfaction and retention by ensuring vehicles are serviced promptly and correctly.

Responsibilities:

• Perform routine automotive maintenance tasks, including oil changes, tire rotations, transmission flushes, air conditioner re-charges, front-end alignments, battery installations, headlight/taillight installations and more.
• Maintain a working knowledge of current industry best practices in automotive repair
• Conduct extensive diagnostic procedures to determine the sources of customers’ problems and provide accurate repair recommendations
• Inspect vehicles according to the state’s requirements for emissions and safety
• Conduct necessary repairs and take vehicles for test drives to verify soundness
• Maintain legible and accurate paperwork for both the customer and internal records
• Clean and maintain the work environment to ensure equipment longevity and workplace safety
• Operate a wide variety of cars, light trucks, and vans, with ability to drive both manual and automatic transmissions.

The required skills enable the technician to perform routine maintenance tasks accurately and safely, ensuring vehicles are serviced to manufacturer specifications. Attention to detail is crucial for identifying potential vehicle issues during inspections and preventing future breakdowns. Strong communication skills are used daily to interact with customers, providing clear explanations and building trust. Physical stamina and dexterity allow the technician to handle tools, equipment, and vehicle components effectively throughout the workday. Preferred skills, such as ASE certification and diagnostic tool familiarity, enhance the technician's ability to troubleshoot and address more complex vehicle maintenance needs, contributing to overall service quality and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; certification from a vocational school or completion of an apprenticeship a plus
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• Previous experience as an automotive lube technician or in a similar automotive service role
• Basic knowledge of automotive maintenance and lubrication procedures
• Ability to lift heavy objects and work in various physical positions for extended periods
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety standards
• Familiarity with automotive diagnostic tools and equipment
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality.
