Export Control Classification and Compliance Specialist (Hybrid Houston, TX)

We are seeking an experienced Export Control Classification and Compliance Specialist to ensure compliance with the Harmonized System (HS), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). This role requires expertise in classifying technology, software, and intangible products, interpreting technical specifications, and managing workflows through ERP classification systems.

This is a 6 month contract role (possible extensions), 40 hours/week, hybrid in Houston, TX (2 days onsite per week).

This is a W2 role with Stage 4 Solutions. Health benefits and a 401K are offered.

Responsibilities

• Act as a subject matter expert in export/import classification, applying advanced methodologies and quality control principles across technologies including AI, semiconductors, and advanced computing.
• Provide classification support for platform based and service oriented business models, ensuring accurate and consistent outcomes in scalable digital environments.
• Partner with cross functional stakeholders to assess classification and regulatory impacts during product lifecycle and roadmap reviews.
• Develop and sustain deep technical expertise in advanced technologies and regulatory frameworks to enable accurate classification of complex products.
• Manage contracting processes by responding to RFPs and contractual requests, preparing data for system entry, and ensuring audit compliance (e.g., Sarbanes Oxley).
• Interface with legal, finance, business units, and outsourcing partners to support classification operations and reporting requirements.
• Contribute to organizational capability by developing knowledge resources, supporting knowledge transfer, and enabling succession planning.

Requirements

• 2+ years of contracts, legal, or compliance related experience.
• Proven experience with ERP classification systems and audit based workflows.
• Strong knowledge of HS, EAR, and ITAR regulations.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications and apply classification methodologies.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and analytical skills.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
