Experimental Optics Engineer

The Experimental Optics Engineer will drive our innovations in quantum key distribution (QKD) systems, working hands-on across R&D, characterization and manufacturing to bring cutting-edge photonic technology from the lab to the product roadmap.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  1. R&D & PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
  • QKD Development: Engage in R&D focused on the development of quantum key distribution (QKD) technology.
  • Product Roadmap: Contribute to technical decisions that shape our product roadmap.
  • European Projects: Participate in leading European projects within the field.
  1. LAB WORK & CHARACTERIZATION
  • Photonics Lab Work: Conduct laboratory work with discrete and integrated photonic technologies.
  • System Characterization: Conduct hands-on characterization of QKD systems and optimize these processes.
  • Manufacturing & Testing: Play a key role in defining and executing activities related to the manufacturing and testing of opto-electronic devices for QKD systems, primarily oriented to product development.
  1. CROSS-FUNCTIONAL COLLABORATION
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with software, hardware, and production teams to develop cutting-edge products.

It's Important to Us That You Have:

  • Hands-On Expertise: Hands-on experience in experimental QKD, including characterization of optical components, optical modulation and transmission, post-processing using Python, C, or other programming languages, and generation and analysis of RF/optical signals.
  • Lab Proficiency: Strong laboratory skills, with proficiency in standard instrumentation such as Optical Spectrum Analyzer (OSA), oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, Arbitrary Waveform Generator (AWG) and Vector Network Analyzer (VNA).
  • Protocol Knowledge: Basic knowledge of QKD protocols such as BB84 or GG02.
  • Proactive Drive: A highly proactive approach, with strong analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Engineering degree in Telecommunications, Microelectronics/RF, Optics/Photonics, Physics, or a related field.
  • High proficiency in English (minimum fluent B2/C1 level).
