As a valued member of the Pewee Valley team, you will collaborate closely with four experienced DVMs and our dedicated Hospital Manager. You will be practicing high-quality, comprehensive medicine that addresses the full spectrum of pet needs. Our extensive services span Pet Wellness and Prevention, Surgery, Urgent Care, Testing and Diagnostics, and Advanced Care. A defining feature of our practice is our depth in advanced medical services, including Reproduction work encompassing PennHIP evaluation and Semen Storage Accounts. This commitment to advanced procedures ensures that you have the tools and caseload diversity necessary to sharpen your skills and confidently provide the best possible outcomes for every patient.

Pewee Valley Veterinary Center is rooted in Pewee Valley, Kentucky, a welcoming community where our team has served clients since 1971. Located just outside the major metropolitan areas, you gain the benefit of working within a close-knit, family-focused community while maintaining convenient accessibility to the broader resources of Kentucky. We operate convenient hours Monday through Saturday, allowing you the predictable schedule needed to explore everything the region has to offer outside the clinic.

Veterinary Assistant

Pewee Valley Veterinary Center | $19-$22/hour

Pewee Valley Veterinary Center is looking for an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team! We're looking for someone who is confident in a clinical setting and brings 2+ years of experience with surgery preparation and monitoring, as well as dental cleanings.

? What You'll Bring

• 2+ years of Veterinary Assistant experience
• Hands-on experience with surgery preparation and monitoring
• Experience assisting with and performing dental cleanings
• A strong understanding of patient safety and quality care
• A positive, team-oriented attitude
• Excellent communication and attention to detail
• A genuine love for animals and the people who care for them ️

What You'll Do

• Prepare patients for surgical procedures
• Monitor patients before, during, and after surgery
• Assist the veterinary team during procedures
• Perform and assist with dental cleanings
• Provide compassionate patient care and monitoring
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe treatment environment
• Support the doctors and veterinary team wherever needed

Schedule

Monday-Friday | 7:00 AM-6:00 PM

Saturday & Sunday: Closed

Compensation

$19-$22/hour, based on experience

Your Impact as a Veterinary Assistant

• Provide Essential Patient Care: You'll be a key player in the health of our patients, assisting the medical team with hands-on care and ensuring every animal is treated with compassion and respect.
• Be the Go-To Support for the Medical Team: You'll be the backbone of the clinic, anticipating the needs of veterinarians and technicians to ensure a smooth, efficient, and collaborative workflow.
• Create a Positive Client Experience: You'll help create a seamless visit for our clients by assisting with scheduling, payments, and communications, always with a courteous and informative approach.
• Ensure a Safe and Clean Environment: You'll take pride in maintaining the hospital, performing clinic upkeep and equipment maintenance to uphold our high standards of care.

What You'll Bring to the Team

• A High School Diploma or equivalent.
• A calm and efficient approach, with the ability to handle a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment with composure.
• Confidence and skill in handling pets of all sizes and temperaments.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Proficiency in fundamental veterinary skills ranging from laboratory and pharmacy to nursing and radiology is a strong asset.
