Allied Veterinary Emergency Hospital is a multi-doctor emergency hospital in Tallahassee, FL, serving the Big Bend region of North Florida, South Georgia, and parts of Southern Alabama. We’re looking for experienced ICU and Emergency Veterinary Technicians who thrive in a fast-paced environment and are ready to play an essential role in caring for critically ill and injured patients.

What Our Veterinary Technicians Do

• Manage critically ill and injured hospitalized patients
• Closely monitor patients and provide prescribed treatments
• Recognize and promptly report changes in patient condition to the DVM
• Perform diagnostic sampling, testing, and imaging
• Perform venipuncture and collect diagnostic samples
• Prepare patients for surgery and assist with surgical procedures
• Work with multiple DVMs to stabilize emergency patients
• Apply medical math skills accurately in patient care
• Provide daily progress updates to pet owners
• Help manage and support Veterinary Assistants
• Perform Veterinary Assistant duties when needed to support patient care and hospital workflow

What Our Emergency Veterinary Technicians Do

• Triage incoming patients and recognize true veterinary emergencies
• Help stabilize critically ill and injured emergency patients
• Work closely with multiple DVMs during emergency stabilization and treatment
• Perform venipuncture and other technical patient-care tasks
• Apply medical math accurately in a fast-paced clinical environment
• Create and explain treatment plans and financial estimates in collaboration with the DVM
• Keep owners informed about their pet’s condition and care
• Prepare patients for surgery and assist with surgical procedures
• Help manage and support Veterinary Assistants
• Perform Veterinary Assistant duties when needed

What You’ll Bring

• Minimum of 2 years of prior experience working as a Veterinary Assistant or Veterinary Technician is required
• Strong technical and patient-care skills
• Confidence working with critically ill and injured patients
• Ability to recognize urgent and emergent patient needs
• Venipuncture experience
• Strong medical math skills
• Surgical preparation and assistance experience
• Ability to monitor patients closely and recognize changes in condition
• Strong communication skills with clients, DVMs, and support team members
• Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced emergency environment
• Confidence providing compassionate client education and patient updates
• Leadership skills and the ability to support Veterinary Assistants
• A collaborative, adaptable, and team-first approach
