Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Meat Cutter to join our Specialty Grocery Store/Catering Company/Meat and Seafood Market! Join a growing, family-owned company that takes pride in delivering high-quality products and exceptional customer service to the communities we serve.

Schedule: Part-time 20-25 hrs. per week
Pay: $17- $21 DEO

Key Responsibilities

Meat & Seafood Preparation

  • Cut, trim, slice, and prepare a variety of fresh meat and seafood products according to company standards and customer specifications.
  • Produce custom cuts and specialty orders while maintaining consistency, quality, and presentation standards.
  • Ensure all products are properly packaged, labeled, and displayed for sale.

Department Operations

  • Assist with inventory management, stock replenishment, product rotation, and shrink control.
  • Maintain pricing accuracy and support merchandising initiatives to maximize product presentation and sales.
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate product needs to department leadership.

Quality Assurance & Food Safety

  • Inspect incoming products for quality, freshness, and compliance with company standards.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and handling procedures, including USDA, HACCP, and company guidelines.
  • Maintain proper storage temperatures and ensure product freshness through effective rotation practices.

Equipment Operation

  • Safely operate and maintain meat-processing equipment, including band saws, grinders, slicers, tenderizers, knives, and wrapping machines.
  • Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance of equipment and promptly report any issues.

Customer Service

  • Deliver outstanding customer service by assisting customers with product selection, preparation recommendations, and special requests.
  • Share product knowledge and answer questions regarding cuts of meat, seafood offerings, and cooking methods.
  • Build positive relationships with customers and contribute to a welcoming shopping experience.

Department Maintenance

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment at all times.
  • Clean and sanitize workstations, equipment, utensils, display cases, coolers, and storage areas.
  • Adhere to all workplace safety standards and procedures.

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum of two (2) years of meat cutting experience, preferably in a retail grocery, butcher shop, or food production environment.
  • Strong knowledge of meat and seafood products, cutting techniques, and food safety standards.
  • Ability to safely operate meat-processing equipment and hand tools.
  • Basic math, inventory management, and merchandising skills.
  • Strong communication, customer service, and teamwork abilities.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred

  • Experience working in a retail grocery environment.
  • Knowledge of merchandising and inventory control practices.
  • Completion of industry-specific meat cutting or food safety training programs.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50+ lbs
  • Ability to operate equipment throughout the workday.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and work in refrigerated environments.
  • Manual dexterity to safely operate knives and meat-processing equipment.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
