Join The Passenger and Italic Catering in Longmont, preparing food for restaurant service, private events, and off-site catering. We’re looking for an experienced cook with strong preparation skills, consistent execution, clear English communication, and practical technology skills.
You will run a station confidently, execute catering orders, support ordering and inventory, and keep the team informed about kitchen readiness. Our globally inspired menus offer varied cooking work across restaurant service and catered events.
What You Will Do:
- Prepare and execute menu items consistently during busy service, coordinating timing with the rest of the kitchen.
- Work independently on assigned stations, keep preparation on track, and communicate shortages before service is affected.
- Prepare catering orders accurately, following event instructions, quantities, packing requirements, and service timelines.
- Maintain recipe, portion, presentation, sanitation, and allergen standards.
- Use digital inventory and ordering tools to count stock, prepare supplier orders for approval, and reduce shortages and waste.
- Post brief written updates on preparation, shortages, kitchen readiness, and next steps.
- Support other cooks through clear communication and station handoffs, and complete opening and closing checklists without repeated reminders.
What You Bring:
- At least 10 years of professional cooking experience, including recent work on a full-service restaurant line.
- Catering or banquet cooking experience strongly preferred, including batch preparation, buffet service, and plated events.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a station through a rush, handle multiple orders accurately, and follow recipes and presentation standards.
- Strong spoken and written English for understanding recipes, tickets, allergen instructions, and event orders; communicating with colleagues and suppliers; and writing clear work updates.
- Practical technology skills, including independently using email, spreadsheets, online ordering portals, and digital checklists or task trackers.
- Ability to learn new kitchen systems quickly.
We provide orientation to our menus and systems. Applicants should already have the cooking skills needed to work independently on the line.
Food Safety Certifications:
- Current food handler certification required.
- Current ServSafe Food Protection Manager certification preferred, but not required to apply.
- If you do not already hold ServSafe Food Protection Manager certification, we will pay for the certification exam.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Base pay: $22 per hour.
- Additional kitchen fee pay: A minimum of $2 per hour.
- Additional kitchen tip share: As applicable. Tip income varies and is not guaranteed.
- Paid sick leave in accordance with Colorado requirements. Base pay, kitchen fee pay, and applicable kitchen tip share are separate components of compensation.
How to Apply?
Send your work history, the stations you can run independently, digital tools you have used, and your availability. Please describe any catering or banquet cooking experience.
Finalists will complete a paid practical assessment covering cooking, job-related English communication, and basic digital ordering and inventory tasks.
