Description

Full-time - Employee W-2 - $93,000-$106,500 for experienced licensed clinicians, depending on education, training, experience, kept sessions, and bilingual ability.

You've built your clinical foundation. Now you're looking for the place that fits.

You love this work, but you're looking for a better way to do it so you can keep doing it well.

As an experienced, licensed clinician, you've sat with complexity. You've worked with clients whose needs don't fit neatly into a treatment plan. You've learned how to make clinical decisions, manage a full caseload, navigate systems, and stay grounded when the work gets hard.

Maybe you're coming from community mental health, solo practice, or a corporate setting - you're looking for something with more connection, better support, and infrastructure that's built for people, not profits.

At Second Growth Counseling, we've designed our group practice for experienced clinicians: autonomy without isolation, meaningful clinical work without sacrificing sustainability, and a team that actually feels like a team.

We're currently looking for experienced, fully licensed LPCs, LCSWs, and LMFTs to join our established Portland-area practice.

About Second Growth Counseling

Second Growth is a collaborative mental health group practice. We provide individual and relationship-focused therapy, group therapy, community education, and workplace wellbeing services to organizations.

We believe good clinicians need more than a caseload.

They need thoughtful infrastructure.

They need people they can consult with.

They need administrative support.

They need room to develop.

And they need a workload that can be sustained over the long term.

That's what we invest in. You.

We're not looking for clinicians who simply want a place to fill a caseload. We're looking for people who want to practice thoughtfully, contribute to a team, and build a sustainable career in mental health.

What this role looks like

This is a full-time, W-2 clinical role with a 23 kept-session weekly baseline.

For 23-25 weekly kept sessions, clinicians schedule 26-28, to account for cancellations, with the exact schedule adjusted based on individual cancellation patterns. Kept sessions above the 23-session baseline are optional and compensated at a higher rate.

Our current compensation structure includes:

  • 23 kept sessions/week - full-time baseline
  • 24-25 kept sessions/week - optional additional compensation
  • Annual compensation generally ranges from $93,000-$106,500 for experienced licensed clinicians, depending on education, training, experience, bilingual ability, and kept sessions
  • Annual bonus eligibility is tied to consistently meeting baseline expectations
  • Additional compensation opportunities are available - check out our job page on our website to learn more

Compensation includes not only the sessions but also documentation, meetings, trainings, assessments, treatment planning, community education, groups, and other contributions to the practice.

What you'll have here

An intentional caseload.

Our baseline is 23-weekly kept sessions with additional incentive pay for any additional kept sessions up to 25. You also have autonomy, choice, and support about consults, acuity, scope, and scheduling as your caseload develops. We build at a humanizing pace and work at creating good matches.

Autonomy without isolation.

You'll have meaningful clinical independence while still being part of a team where consultation and collaboration are expected and supported.

A real administrative team.

You won't be responsible for doing everything yourself. Billing, client care coordination, administrative systems, networking, and other practice infrastructure are supported by dedicated staff.

Documentation support.

We've intentionally built systems to make clinical documentation more manageable and sustainable.

Full benefits.

Our benefits package includes health insurance, dental, retirement matching, malpractice/liability coverage, paid time off, sick time, and professional development support.

Room to grow.

Experienced clinicians have opportunities for professional development through trainings, community partnerships, workshops, committees, supervision development, and learning specialties that align with interests, expertise, values, and market demand.

Who we're looking for

We're especially interested in clinicians who bring experience serving people on Medicaid, within the LGBTQIA+ community, across neurodivergent intersectionalities, through gender-affirming journeys, and have their own niche specialties.

We value the foundation that community mental health, independent practice, and large healthcare facilities build. We also understand it may not be the environment that's sustainable for everyone.

We're looking for clinicians who bring:

Clinical Discernment

You bring strong clinical judgment and the ability to navigate complexity, recognize what a client needs, and make thoughtful decisions. You reach out for consultation, you notice and maintain boundaries, and you're aware of what's not being said or missing in client sessions. Your notes are written with clarity, compassion, and clinical professionalism for the varied audiences that might access this documentation.

Emotional Maturity

You bring self-awareness, humble curiosity, and the capacity to stay grounded through challenging clinical work. You exchange feedback, navigate differences with respect, and remain accountable to yourself, your clients, your board, your team, and the systems we've chosen to tether to.

Professional Reliability

You follow through. You communicate clearly, manage your responsibilities, maintain appropriate boundaries, and understand that consistency and accountability are part of providing excellent clinical care.

Team Orientation

You value collaboration without giving up your clinical autonomy. You communicate openly, contribute your expertise, support your colleagues, and see yourself as an active part of a growing group practice.

This may be a good fit if…

You're looking for a practice where:

  • Your experience is trusted rather than micromanaged
  • You can maintain clinical autonomy while having people to turn to
  • Administrative infrastructure actually supports your clinical work
  • Your caseload is designed with sustainability in mind
  • Collaboration is part of the culture, not just a word in the job description
  • You want opportunities to keep developing beyond therapy sessions
  • You want to contribute to something that is growing
  • You want your next chapter in mental health to contribute to your wellbeing

This probably isn't the right fit if…

You're not yet licensed (and not within 50-75 hours) or looking primarily for a place to carry a caseload with minimal involvement in the broader practice.

We're intentionally building something more collaborative than that.
