Qualifications: MA/MS Degree in Communications/Media; Community Engagement; Exhibit Planning/Design; History; Interpretation; Journalism; Museum/Cultural Studies; and other similar fields with minimum additional experience of 15 year(s) in Exhibit planning/design for museums or other cultural institutions; Project management; Facilitation, Partnership development/management
Duties: This position is located in the Management and Administration Division which oversees Birmingham Civil Rights National Monument (BICR) and Freedom Riders National Monument (FRRI). Duty location is in Birmingham, AL. The primary responsibilities of the Exhibits Project Manager ? Media and Design are to provide professional and technical support, advice, and analysis of interpretation exhibits and other interpretive media. Supports two parks with exhibit and media project management including the development of all aspects of visitor services, inclusive and thematic of messaging, strategic partnerships, industry best practices, platforms for delivery, accessibility, inclusion, enjoyability, and audience appropriateness. This requires maintaining a high degree of professional training, contacts, and expertise in the fields of interpretation, communication, multi-media design, customer service, and museum operations, as well as broad-based knowledge of the resources and stories that connect to the parks served.
