Description

The Commercial team at EyePoint focuses on bringing innovative therapies to patients by ensuring healthcare providers, partners, and communities have access to treatment, reimbursement, and are able to use the product appropriately. This team uses data-driven insights, market access strategies, and a patient-centric approach to improve awareness, access, and adoption of EyePoint's therapies to help improve vision outcomes for people with serious retinal diseases.

EyePoint Pharmaceuticals is seeking an Executive Director, Trade and Distribution to design, build, and lead the commercial distribution and channel strategy supporting the launch of the Company''s retina portfolio. This leader will architect the specialty distribution and specialty pharmacy network, own all channel partner contracting and operations, and ensure reliable, compliant, and financially sound product flow from manufacturing through to the point of patient administration for a Medicare Part B buy-and-bill therapy. This is a build-from-the-ground-up role requiring both strategic channel design and hands-on operational and contract execution.

Key Accountabilities

Distribution Strategy & Channel Architecture

  • Design and own the end-to-end U.S. distribution model for the retina portfolio - evaluating open, limited, and exclusive specialty distribution architectures and recommending the model that best supports rapid, compliant product availability at launch
  • Build the Specialty Distributor (SD) and Specialty Pharmacy (SP) network from the ground up, including partner selection, onboarding, and integration with 3PL warehousing and logistics
  • Partner with BD, Marketing, and Market Access leadership to align distribution strategy with the overall launch and commercial plan

Channel Partner & Contract Management

  • Negotiate and manage all distribution contracts and commercial terms with wholesalers, specialty distributors, specialty pharmacies, and 3PLs - including terms of sale, fees-for-service, revenue recognition, and payment/collections
  • Own trade policies and procedures: ordering, returns, replacements, credit/rebill requests, inventory management, and chargeback processing - executing against contract prices and government pricing terms set by National Payer Accounts
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for channel partners, resolving field/provider-reported service and access issues in coordination with National Accounts and Sales

Launch Execution & Operations

  • Lead trade readiness for launch: order-to-cash setup, inventory positioning at 3PLs/SDs, product dating and shelf-life management in partnership with Supply Chain
  • Own distribution and channel data flows (e.g., 852/867/844 EDI feeds, chargeback data, specialty pharmacy dispense/inventory data) and ensure data quality in partnership with IT and Commercial Analytics
  • Provide channel-side inputs (chargebacks, distribution fees, inventory carry costs) into the gross-to-net and P&L model that Finance consolidates alongside National Payer Accounts'' payer-mix assumptions

Compliance & Quality

  • Ensure full compliance with DSCSA/serialization, pedigree, and drug distribution accreditation standards (e.g., HDA) across all channel partners
  • Oversee channel partner facility audits, recall effectiveness checks, and adherence to national regulatory and licensing requirements
  • Liaise with Legal and Compliance to ensure all trade contracts and programs meet applicable laws and regulations

Cross-Functional & Executive Engagement

  • Represent trade and distribution strategy and performance to the CCO, executive team, and Board as needed
  • Partner with the VP, Head of National Payer Accounts and VP Patient Services to ensure SD/SP capacity and product availability are launch-ready to support the HUB-led patient onboarding journey
  • Build and lead the Trade & Distribution function/team as it scales post-launch, operating in a "player-coach" capacity during early-stage build-out

Qualifications

Required

  • 12+ years in pharmaceutical/biotech trade, distribution, or channel management, including experience at the Director/Senior Director level or above with direct contract negotiation ownership
  • Direct experience building or launching a specialty distribution model for a Medicare Part B buy-and-bill product
  • Retina, ophthalmology, or broader specialty injectable/infused product experience strongly preferred
  • Deep working knowledge of specialty distributor and specialty pharmacy contracting, wholesaler relationships, and 3PL/logistics management
  • Hands-on knowledge of trade operations mechanics: chargeback processing, EDI data (852/867/844), returns/credit-rebill, and inventory management
  • Working knowledge of DSCSA/serialization requirements and drug distribution accreditation standards (e.g., HDA)
  • Demonstrated success building a trade and distribution function from scratch at a small/mid-cap biotech ahead of a first launch
  • Bachelor''s degree required; advanced degree (MBA, healthcare-related) a plus

Preferred

  • Existing relationships across major specialty distributors, specialty pharmacies, and 3PL providers relevant to retina/buy-and-bill products
  • Familiarity with the evolving MFN/Part B pricing policy landscape and its implications for channel economics
