The duties include but are not limited to:

  • Works closely with the Deputy Superintendent in leading the Division of Teaching, Learning & Assessment.
  • Collects, analyzes and uses data to drive decisions related to Teaching, Learning & Assessment.
  • Supervises, leads, and supports district's Teaching, Learning & Assessment K-12 personnel.
  • Works collaboratively with other directors and supervisors to ensure effective coordination, support and utilization of all instructional programs throughout district.
  • Facilitates effective coordination between Federal, State, and Local funds and programs.
  • Monitors and evaluates all instructional programs used K-12.
  • Directs and supports the improvement of Teaching, Learning & Assessment within all disciplines.
  • Monitors financial activity for Division of Teaching, Learning & Assessment.
  • Recommends goals and objectives for Teaching, Learning & Assessment.
  • Assists in the development of Teaching, Learning & Assessment policies and procedures.
  • Remains abreast in areas of Teaching, Learning & Assessment through participation in professional learning opportunities.
  • Provides guidance in developing administrative instructional leadership capacity districtwide.
  • Serves as district representative for Division of Teaching, Learning & Assessment.
  • Keeps current on relevant related laws and trends.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have a valid Alabama certificate in Educational Administration.

Must have a Master's Degree in Education or similar field from a regionally accredited college or university.

Must have a minimum of five (5) years of combined experience as a classroom teacher and building or central office administrator.

Must have a strong background in developing and aligning teaching, instruction, and assessments at the district level.

REQUIREMENT: Completion of ethics training as required by Ala. Code Ann. §36-25-1, et seq., within 90 days of date of hire. The ethics training video may be viewed at http://ethics.alabama.gov/info-training.aspx and a copy of the certificate of completion must be provided to Human Resources for placement in your personnel file no later than 90 days after applicant's date of hire. Applicants who have already undergone this video ethics training do not have to undergo the training again but are required to provide a copy of the certificate of completion to the Human Resources Department.

Salary Range: From/To Beginning pay - $92,185.00

Additional Job Information

Applicants selected for certified positions must have undergone an ABI/FBI criminal history background check (fingerprinting administered through sites selected and approved by the MCPSS and State of Alabama Education Department) and been declared suitable and fit to teach under state law. Applicants selected must also pass a drug-screening test via forms provided by Human Resources during the selection process.
