JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Vice President for Strategic Enrollment Management, the Executive Director of Admissions plans, directs, and coordinates the day-to-day operations for Undergraduate Admissions, Outreach, and International Admissions, and assists in transfer services. Performs advanced management functions to ensure the effective development and achievement of strategic goals and objectives for the Division of Enrollment Management.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:

The Executive Director of Admissions will have functional knowledge of multiple application platforms (ApplyTexas, Common Application, CRM systems, Banner, etc.) and will be familiar with guidelines and best practices for the recruitment and admission of domestic and international first-time college, transfer, and non-traditional students. The ED of Admissions will have a successful track record of establishing and meeting department targets and goals while supporting a campus-wide strategic enrollment plan. The ED of Admission candidate will have thorough knowledge of admissions, transcript articulation, and enrollment technology to support an aggressive, comprehensive strategic enrollment plan.

Essential Duties Summary

  • Develops, approves, and implements operating policies, procedures, and/or guidelines for a forward-thinking, best practice admissions process. Provides internal controls to monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and university policies and regulations.
  • Plans assign and supervise the work of the Admissions Office staff, including recruitment, application processing, transcripts, test score submissions, and admission correspondence.
  • Manages Transfer admission operations, including application processing and transcript evaluation services.
  • Directs and approves various personnel actions, including problem resolution, performance evaluation, training, and operation schedules.
  • Work alongside the director of recruitment to design plans and strategies to support admission targets.
  • Work alongside the director of recruitment to establish, maintain, and enhance partnerships with feeder high schools, school districts, community colleges, and external entities for recruitment and admissions.
  • Collaborates with admissions staff across the Graduate School, Law School, and various university colleges and schools to coordinate admissions processes.
  • Identifies innovative approaches to enhance the effectiveness of admissions operations and staff.
  • Strategizes, develops, and implements comprehensive recruitment and marketing plans in consultation with the VPSEM, CRM Administrator, Director of Recruitment, and with the collaboration of Admissions, Enrollment, Student Success staff, and essential campus stakeholders.
  • Supervises the development, preparation, and dissemination of reports and information. Reviews and analyzes trends and patterns. Reports demographic and statistical admission data and trends to university leadership and other constituencies.
  • Identifies staff development and training requirements. Ensure staff attend appropriate training workshops and seminars.
  • Manages departmental budget, including oversight and approval of travel policies, recruiting travel budgets, and expenses.
  • Coordinates admissions and enrollment operations with the Office of the Registrar, Office of Veterans Affairs, and essential campus stakeholders for University Customer Service Operations.
  • Serves as a liaison with various University departments and offices, such as Information Technology, Financial Aid, Bursars, Institutional Effectiveness, and academic advising units.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Master's degree or higher from an accredited college or university.

Required Licensing/Certification

Valid Texas Driver's License preferred.

  • Ability to maintain the security or integrity of critical infrastructure, which may include communications systems, computer networks and systems, cybersecurity systems, electrical grid, hazardous waste treatment, or water treatment systems.
