The Executive Director, News & Media Relations is a senior leader within UCSF''s Office of Communications and serves as the institution''s principal strategist for enterprise media relations and public affairs. Reporting to the Vice Chancellor, Communications, this position develops and leads integrated external communications strategies for UCSF. The role works in partnership with communications and institutional leaders across the enterprise to protect and strengthen UCSF''s reputation as one of the world''s leading academic health systems and biomedical research institutions. It also advances institutional priorities across research, education, patient care, and public service.
The Executive Director provides strategic communications counsel to executive leadership and ensures a coordinated, enterprise-wide approach to external communications.

The successful candidate will be a strategic and collaborative leader with exceptional interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and experience advising senior executives on complex communications issues. They will excel in leading communications professionals in a rapidly evolving media environment while fostering collaboration, innovation, and excellence across the organization.
This is a hybrid role and is expected to be on site three days per week or more as the work requires.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF.
