    The Hicksville Boys and Girls Club is a community-based youth development organization dedicated to providing children and teens with a safe, positive, and supportive environment where they can learn, grow, and reach their full potential. Boys & Girls Club organizations are part of a broader movement focused on helping young people, especially those who need support most, build the skills, relationships, and confidence needed for a successful future.At the heart of the Boys & Girls Club model are caring youth development professionals who provide safe, fun, inclusive spaces; supportive relationships; opportunities for growth; and recognition of positive behavior. The Hicksville Boys and Girls Club seeks a dynamic, mission-driven Executive Director to lead the organization into its next chapter of service, growth, and community impact.

    Responsibilities

    The Executive Director will serve as the chief executive and operational leader of the Hicksville Boys and Girls Club. This individual will be responsible for advancing the Club's mission, supporting the Board of Directors, managing day-to-day operations, strengthening programs and services, leading staff and volunteers, overseeing finances and compliance, and building strong relationships with families, schools, funders, community partners, elected officials, and other stakeholders.

    The successful candidate will be a visible and collaborative leader who can balance strategic planning with hands-on nonprofit management. The role requires leadership of overall planning and operations, support to the Board of Directors, financial and administrative management, community relations, fundraising, program oversight, staff leadership, and attention to safety and compliance responsibilities.

    Strategic Leadership and Board Partnership

    • Partner with the Board of Directors to develop, communicate, and implement the Club's strategic vision, priorities, and goals.
    • Provide regular reports to the Board regarding operations, finances, programs, staffing, fundraising, risks, and opportunities.
    • Support the Board in fulfilling its governance, fiduciary, fundraising, and community leadership responsibilities.
    • Assist the Board in developing policies, procedures, committees, and organizational priorities.
    • Help identify opportunities to expand the Club's impact, strengthen sustainability, and increase services to youth and families.

    Program Leadership and Youth Development

    • Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of high-quality youth development programs.
    • Ensure programs are safe, engaging, age-appropriate, inclusive, and aligned with the mission of the Boys and Girls Club.
    • Promote a Club culture focused on safety, belonging, positive relationships, leadership development, academic support, healthy lifestyles, and good character.
    • Monitor program effectiveness and recommend improvements based on member needs, family feedback, staff input, and available resources.
    • Maintain strong relationships with schools, families, community organizations, local government, and other partners serving youth.

    Operations, Administration, and Compliance

    • Manage the daily operations of the Club, including facilities, staffing, programs, administration, and member services.
    • Ensure that all Club operations comply with applicable federal, state, local, funding, licensing, insurance, safety, and organizational requirements.
    • Maintain accurate organizational records, reports, policies, contracts, personnel files, financial documentation, and program records.
    • Develop and update policies and procedures as needed, subject to Board review and approval where appropriate.
    • Ensure the Club maintains a safe, clean, welcoming, and properly supervised environment for youth, staff, volunteers, and visitors.

    Staff and Volunteer Leadership

    • Recruit, hire, supervise, train, evaluate, and support staff and volunteers.
    • Promote a professional, respectful, accountable, and mission-centered workplace culture.
    • Establish clear expectations, performance goals, work schedules, and training plans for staff.
    • Encourage staff development and teamwork to support strong program delivery and operational effectiveness.
    • Ensure appropriate background checks, onboarding, training, and supervision practices are followed.

    Financial Management and Fundraising

    • Work with the Board Treasurer and Finance Committee to develop and manage the annual operating budget.
    • Monitor revenue, expenses, cash flow, grants, restricted funds, and financial controls.
    • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to the Board, funders, government agencies, and other required parties.
    • Lead or support fundraising efforts, including grants, donations, sponsorships, special events, appeals, and community partnerships.
    • Identify and pursue new funding opportunities to strengthen the Club's long-term sustainability.
    • Build and maintain relationships with donors, government representatives, foundations, civic organizations, businesses, and community supporters.

    Community Relations and Public Representation

    • Serve as a primary spokesperson and ambassador for the Hicksville Boys and Girls Club.
    • Represent the Club at community meetings, civic events, partner meetings, fundraising events, and other public forums.
    • Cultivate strong relationships with local schools, families, elected officials, nonprofit partners, businesses, donors, volunteers, and community leaders.
    • Communicate the Club's mission, needs, accomplishments, and impact clearly and professionally.
    • Promote the Club's visibility, reputation, and role as a trusted resource for youth and families in the Hicksville community.

    Qualifications

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in nonprofit management, education, social work, public administration, business administration, youth development, or a related field preferred.
    • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible leadership experience in nonprofit management, youth services, education, community programs, social services, or a related field.
    • Experience working with or supporting a Board of Directors strongly preferred.
    • Experience managing staff, budgets, programs, grants, fundraising, facilities, and compliance responsibilities preferred.
    • Prior experience with a Boys & Girls Club, youth development organization, community center, school-based program, or similar nonprofit is highly desirable.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Strong commitment to youth development and the mission of the Hicksville Boys and Girls Club.
    • Demonstrated leadership, management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with a volunteer Board of Directors, staff, families, donors, funders, public officials, and community partners.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and professional correspondence.
    • Understanding of nonprofit financial management, budgeting, grant administration, fundraising, and internal controls.
    • Ability to supervise, mentor, and motivate staff and volunteers.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and respond effectively to operational needs.
    • Strong judgment, integrity, professionalism, discretion, and accountability.
    • Familiarity with youth safety practices, mandated reporting, risk management, and compliance expectations preferred.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general nonprofit administrative systems preferred.
    • Availability for occasional evening and weekend meetings, events, and programs.
    • Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation preferred.
