Executive Communicator - External Communications and Media Relations

Standard Job Description

We are looking for an external communications expert who can pitch reporters, prep executives, write speeches and measure success in both U.S. and international markets.

As a founding member of a new Executive Communications team supporting the president of Lockheed Martin Aeronautics, this strategic thinker will develop and execute integrated communications plans that extend executive narratives to audiences outside of Lockheed Martin. The successful candidate will be able to tailor the approach for engagements with domestic, international, investor and community audiences.

This experienced communicator must have the ability to support high-profile communications about complex subjects. The communicator will:

• Develop, execute and measure the Aeronautics president's media strategy in alignment with broader narratives.
• Identify high-impact media interview opportunities as stand-alone engagements or part of larger events.
• Prepare the executive for external engagements, including media interviews, speeches, podcasts and panel remarks.
• Write thought leadership content such as op-eds.
• Support internal executive engagements if needed.
• Balance and prioritize work with multiple internal organizations in a fast-paced environment with agility, creativity and flexibility.
• Collaborate with Communications teammates across the business on integrated communications plans.

Develops, plans, and conducts public relations and goodwill programs to improve and support company business objectives with the public, industry, stockholders, and/or employees. Plans, prepares, writes and disseminates information utilizing print and broadcast media; magazines, speeches, scripts, intranet and Internet website. Submits photographs; assigns and/or approves artwork. May represent the company at press conferences, briefings and presentations on company issues. May participate and support advertising campaigns, and/or edit material for organization publications. May supervise work of outside consultants.

Basic Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree or higher.
• Experience writing, editing and delivering executive communications about highly complex information in clear, compelling ways.
• Previous strategic communications experience writing in an executive's voice for external audiences.
• Experience successfully engaging with national reporters, securing coverage and shaping stories in national or international outlets.

Desired Skills

• A bachelor's degree or higher in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing or another related discipline.
• Strong strategic storytelling instincts, exceptional writing and the ability to influence stakeholders.
• Experience advising and coaching executives.
• Familiarity working with global companies in a multi-national media landscape.
• Quick study with attention to detail.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $109700.00 - $203700.00

• Annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs may be offered depending on the position. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and can vary from year to year and are tied to a range of performance metrics.
• For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
