Description

The Hilton Garden Inn Pittsburgh/Southpointe, a premier venue located in Canonsburg is looking for an Executive Banquet Chef to join their team.  This location hosts several corporate meetings, intimate gatherings, and extraordinary weddings in our 20,000 square feet of flexible event space. The Executive Banquet Chef will lead our banquet culinary operation and deliver exceptional food and service for weddings, corporate events, conferences, social gatherings, and other special events.

The Executive Banquet Chef will oversee all aspects of banquet food production, from menu planning and preparation through execution and presentation. This position requires a strong culinary leader who can thrive in a fast-paced hotel environment, manage multiple events simultaneously, develop and coach a talented culinary team, and maintain consistently high standards for food quality, presentation, sanitation, and cost control.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee all banquet culinary operations, ensuring exceptional food quality, presentation, timing, and consistency.
  • Plan, organize, and execute food production for weddings, meetings, conferences, social events, and other hotel functions.
  • Review banquet event orders (BEOs) and ensure all culinary requirements, special requests, dietary needs, and timing details are communicated and executed properly.
  • Develop and maintain banquet menus in collaboration with the Food & Beverage leadership, and sales team.
  • Manage food preparation and production based on anticipated guest counts, event schedules, and business levels.
  • Ensure proper execution of plated dinners, buffets, stations, hors d'oeuvres, receptions, and other banquet offerings.
  • Create schedules and assign responsibilities based on event volume and operational needs.
  • Train, coach, and develop culinary employees to ensure strong technical skills and adherence to hotel standards.
  • Monitor food costs, waste, yields, and inventory to support departmental profitability.
  • Coordinate closely with banquet operations, event managers, servers, and other departments to ensure smooth execution of events.
  • Ensure compliance with all hotel policies, health department regulations, and food safety requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional culinary experience, preferably in a hotel, resort, country club, convention center, or high-volume banquet operation.
  • Previous experience leading a banquet culinary team is required.
  • Culinary degree or formal culinary training preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of banquet food production, menu execution, and large-scale event operations.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple events and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of food cost, portion control, inventory management, and kitchen labor management.
  • Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Ability to read and execute banquet event orders accurately.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business and event needs.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • ServSafe certification or equivalent food safety certification preferred.
