Black Bear Talent is now hiring Environmental Services Technicians. The Environmental Services Technician (EVS Tech) plays a critical role in supporting the facility’s mission and advancing departmental goals through measurable performance indicators and service excellence. This position contributes to a collaborative, patient-centered environment and helps drive outcomes aligned with organizational priorities.
This position performs a variety of cleaning, servicing, and replenishing duties in assigned hospital areas to ensure that patient, medical, visitor, and administrative areas are maintained in accordance with established standards of sanitation and cleanliness. Position works every other weekend, with days off as scheduled. Works holidays as scheduled.
Shifts:
- First Shift (1st - 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM) with a rotating weekend schedule (every other weekend), scheduled days off, and holiday shifts as assigned.
- Mid-Shift (Mid - 11:00 AM - 7:30 PM) with a rotating weekend schedule (every other weekend), scheduled days off, and holiday shifts as assigned.
- Second Shift (2nd - 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM) with a rotating weekend schedule (every other weekend), scheduled days off, and holiday shifts as assigned.
- Third Shift (3rd - 11:00 PM - 7:30 AM) with a rotating weekend schedule (every other weekend), scheduled days off, and holiday shifts as assigned.
Essential Job Duties
- Attends in-services as directed by the Environmental Services Supervisor as appropriate for job classification.
- Maintains facility and unit-defined competencies as evidenced by annual completion of competency records.
- Promotes harmonious relationships and positive attitudes among the health care team through professional and respectful interactions.
- Provides daily housekeeping services in patient care areas.
- Maintains patient care areas in a clean and orderly fashion using established cleaning procedures.
- Cleans lounges, restrooms, nurses’ stations, and offices.
- Picks up waste, empties garbage containers, and removes waste to designated disposal areas. Sanitizes waste containers and replaces trashcan liners.
- Replenishes soap, paper towels, tissue, and other necessary supplies.
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to ensure the safety of special populations of patients.
- Tools, equipment, chemicals, and supplies are not left unattended in patient care areas where patients, visitors, or employees may be injured.
- Uses proper caution to ensure tools, equipment, chemicals, and supplies are accessible only to employees whose assigned position and training allow them to use them.
- Maintains equipment and supplies. Reports deficiencies in equipment, furniture, and fixtures to the appropriate person in a timely manner.
- Maintains patient confidentiality and protects private patient information at all times.
- Maintains patient privacy when working in patient care areas by closing doors or curtains as appropriate.
- Consistently demonstrates appropriate verbal and nonverbal behavior.
- Services and cleans patient rooms upon patient discharge and prepares rooms and beds for the next patient. Sets rooms up with appropriate patient supplies.
- Reports emergency situations to nursing personnel in a timely manner.
- Follows universal precautions when providing care and carrying out assigned duties.
- Prior experience in a hospital, healthcare system, or related service-oriented environment preferred.
Additional Requirements:
- Availability for both day and night shift, every other weekends, and holiday rotations as needed
- Must pass pre-employment background check and drug screening
