About the Job
The Office of Student Engagement & Events coordinates programs, facilities, and services that facilitate student co-curricular engagement and learning, foster community and belonging, and connect the campus and area community through events, outreach, and the shared use of campus facilities. The Events Coordinator supports the planning, coordination, and implementation of campus events, leads facility services, and collaborates with campus partners to provide high-quality services and experiences for students, faculty, staff, community partners, and guests. Working under general supervision, the Coordinator provides professional support for event planning and facility operations, ensures event planners are warmly assisted, and facilitates compliance with UMN policies and procedures. This full-time civil service, 12-month appointment (SS Pro1-Student Engage & Dev / 8461ED) reports to the Senior Coordinator of Student Engagement & Events. The position includes some night and weekend work with flex scheduling. The position is currently funded through June 2027.
This is a short-term position and the duration will be through June 2027.
Work Environment: This is an in-person position working on the University of Minnesota - Morris campus.
Schedule:
Monday-Friday with some night and weekend work with flex scheduling.
40 hours per week

Essential Functions:
Manage and support campus event planning and implementation. Work with the Student Engagement & Events team, student leaders, campus offices and programs, and community partners to ensure mutual support, collaboration, and success in planning and executing high-quality campus events. (50%)
Support planning and implementation of major University events (e.g., Admissions Visit Days, New Student Orientation, Welcome Week, Homecoming, Family Weekend, Celebration of Scholarly Accomplishments, named lectures, Undergraduate Research Symposium, Faculty-Staff Recognition Dinner, Honors & Awards, Commencement.) Provide event coordination and operational support to ensure successful program delivery. (40%)
Assist in the presentation of all-campus events, coordinating logistical and operational support to present a consistent signature appearance and high-quality program delivery. Provide event coordinators with planning and implementation guidance, support, and assistance.
Facilitate the inclusion of branded UMN Morris visual pull-up banners, MORRIS letters, table skirts, and electronic campus messaging in event presentation.
Assist in coordinating event operations to enhance the participant / campus visitor experience
Ensure the provision of welcoming event and directional signage.
Ensure presenters and special guests are warmly welcomed and supported during their visits and presentations. Provide support with sensitivity to individuals' and programs' varied and specific needs.
Anticipate and respond to the needs of participants from varied backgrounds, cultures, and abilities.
Work with event planners, the SEE team, Communications and Marketing, and Institutional Technology to extend the reach of key events beyond the campus, engaging prospective students, alumni, families, and friends via live streaming, interactive technology, and social media.
Support the use of campus facilities by community partners and external groups. (10%)
Assume other duties as needed or assigned to advance the work of Student Engagement & Events, Student Affairs, and the University.
