TITLE: Event Marketing Manager, Trade Shows & Sponsorships - Retail
REPORTS TO: Experiential Marketing Manager
LOCATION: Brooklyn, NY — OR — Marina del Rey, CA (Onsite Monday - Friday)
Who is Flip?
There are 3 runaway categories in B2B AI — coding, legal, and customer support. We're at the center of the third, with a one-of-one market position and hundreds of diehard fan clients, from Under Armour to Tory Burch to some of the largest healthcare institutions in the country.
The market is dividing into two camps: generic tooling-and-FDE players building custom agents from scratch, and industry-specific solutions winning on client love due to speed of ROI. We're firmly the latter. Retail and healthcare alone represent $5B+ TAMs each, and we're still early.
We built the company on a simple idea: the best way to grow is to have a reference list as long as your customer list. We're a team of 100+ now, with offices in NYC, LA, and the UK. Many people here will tell you it's the best place they've worked and the hardest they've worked. Both are true.
What You'll Own
A pipeline-driven events program, and a key role in the strategy behind it. Events are one of our main growth channels across the three industries we serve: retail, healthcare, and transportation. You'll own Flip's trade show and conference presence, balancing sponsorship strategy, executive programming and hands-on execution, with every event tied to the pipeline. You'll run 8–10 flagship retail shows a year end to end, support dozens of smaller eventswith booth assets and swag, and keep the full events calendar current as new opportunities come in.
This starts with deciding where and how we show up: researching, vetting and working with BD to compare event attendees against our ICP, and bringing leadership clear recommendations on where and how to invest. From there, you'll negotiate complex sponsorship packages for the best return, sponsor satellite events, organize and manage dinners, and host experiences around each show where many of the best conversations happen. Every event gets a clear goal, a target account list and a pipeline target before we commit budget. You'll do it in a tech-forward office where HubSpot, ClickUp, and Claude are part of daily work.
You know B2B events and field marketing inside and out, love planning the work and working the plan, and hold everyone around you accountable. Not just done, but done right, on time, on budget, and tied to the pipeline.
Core Day-to-Day
- Trade shows, conferences and other events. Own Flip's conference calendar end to end, and partner with Business Development and Sales teams to identify the right events across retail, healthcare, and transportation.
- Sponsorships and Speaking opportunities: Negotiate sponsorships, speaking opportunities and/or booth packages with organizers and build the business case for each investment and recommend which to scale or cut, manage all logistics, and ensure Flip shows up in a way that turns heads and, above all, creates real conversations with buyers.
- Pipeline and sales alignment. You see every show as a sales opportunity — before, during and after each event. You know how to use speaking slots, satellite events, executive dinners and client entertainment to open doors with priority accounts, and assist sales and CS teams in locking client and prospect RSVPs for dinners and special events. You will work closely with Sales and BD to set target-account meeting goals before each event and report on qualified meetings, opportunities, pipeline and closed-won revenue.
- Pre-event planning. Build detailed event plans and timelines well in advance. Coordinate across sales, marketing, and leadership to align on goals, target accounts, messaging, and on-site experience. Manage all vendor relationships, contracts, and deadlines.
- Booth and event assets. Manage booth production through trusted vendors, from design and fabrication to AV, shipping, install and teardown. You manage Flip's event assets across a full calendar, reusing and refreshing assets to keep costs down. You bring a trusted network of fabricators, AV, logistics and storage partners, and you hold them to deadlines when the timeline gets tight.
- Brand activations & content. Partner with creative and content to bring activations to life; coordinate photo, video, and client interview capture for social and post-event promotion.
- Budget management. Every event should earn its spend. Partner with sales and BD on budget strategy, and own each event budget from estimate through reconciliation. Track cost per qualified meeting and pipeline-to-cost ratio for every event, and shift spend toward what works.
- On-site execution & team leadership. Generate briefing docs and run-of-show. Lead the team on the ground at every event. Manage setup, staffing, scheduling, and real-time problem solving. Ensure every detail is executed to plan and the Flip team is set up to have meaningful conversations and capture every lead.
- Reporting and attribution. Build event reporting in HubSpot (and Salesforce where used): target accounts engaged, qualified meetings, opportunities, pipeline and closed-won revenue. Share results with leadership monthly and recommend which programs to scale, fix or stop.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years owning B2B trade shows, executive dinners and industry conferences at a SaaS company (preferably in the relevant industry of Retail), with end-to-end ownership of logistics, sponsorships, on-site execution, and reporting on pipeline impact.
- Retail industry experience — you know its major trade shows and how buyers show up at them.
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills and use of technology. You are a master at managing multiple events and deadlines at once, without dropping a detail. You are comfortable utilizing technology, including Ai tools, hubspot and notion to develop and manage plans.
- Proven budget ownership and ROI fluency. You've built and managed event budgets, negotiated with vendors and organizers, and used performance data (qualified meetings, pipeline, cost per meeting) to decide where to invest next.
- Commercial instincts. You understand how events support enterprise sales cycles, and you're comfortable setting and owning meeting and pipeline goals alongside AEs.
- Strong leadership on the ground — comfortable directing teams and vendors in a fast-paced environment, and holding partners accountable without losing the relationship.
- A natural collaborator who translates creative and content teams' ideas into flawless execution.
- Relentless attention to detail. You love a checklist, own every open item, and don't stop until everything is closed out.
- Adaptable and calm under pressure. You have worked at a fast-growing company, can build processes where none exists, and make quick decisions with incomplete information.
- Bonus: hands-on experience with HubSpot or Salesforce, including building event attribution reports.
