Overview

We are seeking an experienced BIM Estimator to join our growing construction team. This role is responsible for developing accurate estimates for Building Information Modeling (BIM) and coordination services on commercial construction projects. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of BIM workflows, construction estimating, and virtual design coordination, with the ability to collaborate across multiple project teams to ensure successful project planning and execution.
Key Responsibilities
  • Review project specifications, schedules, drawings, and BIM Execution Plans (BEPs) to determine modeling and coordination scope.
  • Prepare detailed BIM estimates using estimating software, production rates, quantity takeoffs, and customized estimating tools.
  • Develop clear proposal inclusions, exclusions, assumptions, and clarifications.
  • Incorporate prefabrication and subcontractor scope into project estimates when applicable.
  • Coordinate with BIM leadership to review and finalize estimates prior to submission.
  • Participate in project kickoff meetings to communicate estimating assumptions and project scope.
  • Maintain organized estimating files and documentation for future reference and audit purposes.
  • Prepare pricing for change orders, revisions, and additional BIM scope throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Monitor actual modeling production rates and update estimating metrics to improve future estimate accuracy.
  • Track estimating requests and workload using project management and estimating tools.
  • Deliver accurate, competitive estimates within required deadlines while considering regional market conditions, project complexity, and historical cost data.
  • Support continuous process improvements and assist with additional estimating responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of estimating experience on commercial construction projects.
  • Experience with BIM estimating and/or electrical construction is highly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Accubid, Enterprise, or similar estimating software.
  • Experience with VDC software is a plus.
  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant experience will also be considered.
Desired Skills
  • Strong knowledge of construction estimating principles, BIM processes, and commercial construction practices.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills along with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, etc.).
  • Experience with Oracle, Power BI, and SharePoint is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and collaborative team player.
  • Professional communication skills with clients, vendors, project teams, and leadership.
Travel
  • Up to 10% travel may be required.
Work Environment
This position is primarily office-based and involves extended periods of sitting, computer work, and occasional walking, standing, bending, lifting, or carrying materials up to 40 pounds. The work environment is typically climate-controlled with a low to moderate noise level.
