Description
- Prepare detailed construction estimates from conceptual design through final bid submission.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and pricing analyses for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work.
- Review project plans, specifications, and contract documents for completeness and accuracy.
- Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate subcontractor and supplier proposals.
- Develop project budgets and cost models during preconstruction.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering alternatives.
- Participate in bid reviews, scope analysis, and project strategy meetings.
- Maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and industry partners.
- Assist with proposal preparation and bid submissions.
- Support the project team during project handoff and startup activities.
- Stay current on market conditions, labor trends, and material pricing.
Profile
A successful Building and Construction Estimator should have:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- 3+ years of estimating experience within commercial construction.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building systems.
- Experience estimating commercial, multifamily, healthcare, institutional, or industrial projects.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam, PlanSwift, On-Screen Takeoff, Sage Estimating, or similar software.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and financial acumen.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Experience working with subcontractors and suppliers throughout the bidding process.
