Estimator I

This position supports estimating activities by assisting with project takeoffs, HVAC designs, load calculations, specifications, data entry, and project documentation. Ability to travel locally and perform jobsite-related activities, including climbing ladders, bending, and accessing confined or elevated areas.

An established HVAC contractor in the Sarasota area is seeking an HVAC Estimator to support residential construction projects.


This position supports estimating activities by assisting with project takeoffs, HVAC designs, load calculations, specifications, data entry, and project documentation. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, comfortable reviewing construction plans, and interested in continuing to develop within HVAC estimating.


Responsibilities

• Review construction drawings and specifications to determine project scope and estimating requirements
• Gather, calculate, and compile takeoff information for estimates and bid proposals
• Assist with HVAC designs, load calculations, specification sheets, and related documentation
• Review estimates for accuracy and make updates or corrections when needed
• Help ensure estimates and supporting documents are completed accurately and on schedule
• Participate in pre-bid, bid-planning, and project turnover meetings
• Prepare change-order estimates for active projects as requested
• Communicate relevant project information to installation and operations teams
• Coordinate with internal departments, contractors, suppliers, and other project partners
• Maintain accurate and organized estimating records
• Travel locally to jobsites and contractor offices as needed
• Conduct residential site visits, including using ladders when necessary
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• One to two years of HVAC or related construction experience preferred
• Previous exposure to construction estimating, HVAC design, or estimating software preferred
• Foundational knowledge of HVAC systems, construction plans, specifications, and takeoffs
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
• Dependable, organized, and able to manage multiple assignments
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaborate across departments
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Experience using Wrightsoft, FastDUCT, and EnergyGauge
• Experience with HVAC design or load-calculation software preferred
• Experience with construction estimating, energy-calculation, or drafting software is a plus
• Ability to travel locally and perform jobsite-related activities, including climbing ladders, bending, and accessing confined or elevated areas
