    Description

    The Ruhlin Company seeks to hire a Estimator-Highway Lighting & Signalization out of our Sharon center office.

    Summary: Prepare portions of contract proposal estimates for one or more work types.

    Responsibilities:

    • Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.

    • Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work.

    • Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures, including current/accurate information on prices from suppliers.

    • Maintain database with current contact information for subcontractors and vendors.

    • Update external company website with current bid information.

    • Request quotes; organize, review, and log quotes received.

    • Support other department personnel as required.

    • Visit project sites to observe construction methods.

    • Update skills for software tools and technology utilization.

    • Perform post-bid analysis; i.e. bid tabulations.

    • Assist with cost control system set-up.

    • Participate in bid review meetings with owner or owner's representatives as needed.

    • Participate in project hand-off meetings.

    • Assist with making phone calls or making copies of documents, proposals.

    • Deliver major bids; pick up drawings and other miscellaneous bid-related errands.

    • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Chief Estimator.

    Essential Skills and Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree preferred.

    • Minimum of 3+ years of Highway Lighting & Signalization estimating experience.

    • Advanced math and computer skills.

    • Ability to conceptualize a project schedule from start through completion including sequence/phasing of work.

    • Knowledge of assigned discipline, estimating techniques and cost control.

    • Ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems.

    • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 and HCSS Heavy Bid is a plus; ability to learn additional software programs.

    • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

    • Good time management and organization skills.

    • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

    • Team-focused mindset with the ability to build strong working relationships.
