Job Details / Responsibilities:
Support the full preconstruction process by preparing accurate, competitive cost estimates and coordinating all bid administration activities
Review bidding opportunities and assist in evaluating project requirements
Prepare and maintain bid schedules, plan distribution records, and estimating documentation
Solicit bids from subcontractors and vendors to ensure appropriate trade coverage and competitive pricing
Develop and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and industry partners
Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and material estimates from drawings and specifications
Analyze plans, specifications, and other project documents to develop accurate cost estimates
Prepare and distribute subcontractor bid packages
Communicate project requirements, clarifications, addenda, and bid updates to subcontractors and vendors
Evaluate subcontractor and vendor quotations for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with project requirements
Identify opportunities to improve pricing, reduce risk, and increase competitiveness
Maintain accurate estimating records and enter relevant information into estimating software and company systems
Ensure estimates and bid submissions are completed accurately and submitted by established deadlines
Work closely with the Director of Preconstruction, Project Management, owners, architects, and consultants
Identify project risks, develop value-driven solutions, and support successful project pursuits through award and turnover to Operations
Qualifications:
Proven experience in construction estimating or related preconstruction role (typically 3+ years preferred)
Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documents
Experience performing detailed quantity takeoffs and developing cost estimates
Demonstrated success coordinating with subcontractors and evaluating bids
Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
Excellent organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills
Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple bids and tight deadlines
Knowledge of commercial construction methods, materials, and local market conditions preferred
Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field a plus
