Job Title: Estimating Manager

Responsibilities
- Direct the full estimating cycle for hard-bid construction projects, from initial opportunity review through bid submission
- Analyze specifications, drawings, scopes of work, and schedules to define requirements and flag risks, gaps, and conflicts
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site walks to confirm scope and field conditions
- Identify needed RFIs and make sure clarifications are submitted before bid deadlines
- Build project-specific labor plans covering location, craft mix, workforce availability, supervision, and project management staffing
- Determine subcontract scopes and distribute complete bid packages, deadlines, and RFI dates to subcontractors
- Work with fabrication and engineering leadership to confirm requirements, in-house capacity, schedules, and costs
- Decide when outside fabrication, detailing, engineering, or subcontract support is needed and secure pricing on time
- Back all materials, equipment rentals, subcontract work, and general conditions with project-specific quotes and vendor pricing
- Align with operations and field leadership on realistic labor, equipment, supervision, and execution assumptions
- Build estimates on actual project costs and true labor rates rather than blended or unsupported figures
- Assign estimating tasks and set bid schedules to meet submission deadlines
- Lead formal estimate reviews to verify scope coverage, quantities, costs, assumptions, exclusions, and risks before submission
- Present estimates to executive management and obtain margin approval per company guidelines
- Maintain standardized estimating procedures, templates, spreadsheets, and documentation
- Archive completed estimates and supporting files in the CRM
- Track the status of submitted bids and drive follow-up
- Lead the kick-off and handoff of awarded projects to project management and operations, including assumptions, scope, pricing, exclusions, risks, and subcontractor details
- Ensure awarded project data is accurately loaded into the job cost tracking system
- Analyze estimate outcomes and project performance to improve future accuracy and processes
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
- Significant experience in construction estimating, project management, operations, or a related construction discipline
- Experience leading or managing an estimating team preferred
- Solid knowledge of construction labor, materials, equipment, subcontracting, fabrication, engineering, and cost development
- Proven ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, bid documents, and scopes of work
