Join Our Team as an Estimating Manager!
We are seeking an experienced Estimating Manager to lead estimating strategy, team development, and preconstruction efforts for complex construction projects for our New England Teams. This role is critical in driving competitive, risk-aware solutions and partnering with business development, operations, and technical teams to win high-value work.
You will oversee all estimating activities within the branch, lead key pursuits, and mentor a high-performing team of estimators.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Development
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of estimators and preconstruction professionals
Manage performance, career development, and training plans
Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, safety, and continuous improvement
Estimating & Preconstruction Leadership
Oversee all estimating efforts for the branch; lead select strategic pursuits directly
Drive conceptual and design-build estimating for complex projects
Ensure alignment between estimating, operations, and business development teams
Bid Strategy & Market Intelligence
Develop and execute winning bid strategies based on market conditions and competitor insights
Leverage historical data, pricing trends, and market intelligence to guide decisions
Establish and share best practices across the estimating team
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with Business Development to support capture strategies and client engagement
Collaborate with engineering partners and SMEs to develop innovative solutions
Align internal stakeholders across operations, sales, and leadership
Client Engagement & Presentations
Support and lead client presentations, proposals, and interviews
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and industry partners
Risk Management & Contracts
Identify and mitigate project risks during preconstruction
Support or lead contract negotiations and review terms and conditions
Ensure adherence to company risk management processes
Systems & Process Excellence
Oversee estimating tools, data systems, and historical cost databases
Implement standard processes, SOPs, and best practices
Drive continuous improvement in estimating accuracy and efficiency
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience
10+ years of construction estimating experience
Proven experience managing estimating teams
Strong background in:
Design-build and conceptual estimating
Large, complex projects ($10M+)
Bid strategy development and execution
Proficiency with:
Estimating software and Excel
Construction drawings and specifications
Scheduling tools (Level 2 schedules preferred)
CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce)
