A day in the life

The Essentials Finance Analyst supports financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and analytics for the Essentials business. The role helps translate operating and financial data into insights that support business decisions, while maintaining recurring reports, forecasts, and performance metrics. This position partners with Finance, Accounting, execution teams, Asset Management, and business leadership to improve forecast accuracy, monitor performance, and strengthen financial processes. The role also supports reporting automation and process improvements as the business continues to scale.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Support forecasting by loading sales, operating, and development forecasts, maintaining financial system hierarchies, and coordinating monthly reconciliations with Accounting.
  • Maintain and roll forward recurring reporting packages, including materials for team leaders, Board presentations, and Quarterly Business Reviews.
  • Analyze development portfolio performance, including project-level metrics and tax benefits, and support leadership forecasting for revenue, capital expenditures, and depreciation.
  • Prepare KPI reporting and analyze variances to business plans and forecasts.
  • Produce monthly financial analytics, including energy resale, G&A, operating expense, and project-level performance reporting.
  • Support business planning and long-term forecasting for financial line items within the Energy P&L.
  • Deliver ad hoc financial reporting and analysis and identify opportunities to improve or automate recurring reporting processes.

Building blocks for success

Required:

  • 2+ years of financial analytics experience.
  • Ability to apply finance and accounting principles to financial analysis and reporting.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex business issues.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple objectives and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across functions and organizational levels.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Experience in a fast-paced or non-traditional finance environment.
  • Experience improving financial processes or implementing reporting enhancements.
  • Experience supporting forecasting, KPI reporting, or financial planning activities.
  • Demonstrates willingness and capability to leverage emerging technology, automation, and AI tools to improve efficiency, quality, and speed. Exercises sound judgment, creative thinking, and accountability for outcomes.

Hiring Salary Range of:

$61,600 - $80,000. Salary and whole compensation package (bonus target) to be determined by the candidate’s location, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
