The Darlington Community School District is seeking an ESL Teacher to lead our high school English language learners. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to collaboration, a solution-focused mindset, and a deep understanding of the unique needs of high school students who are expanding their English language skills. We value hands-on learning, community involvement, and the development of future multi-lingual leaders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Instruction: Deliver an engaging ESL curriculum (Language Acquisition, Academic Literacy, and co-teaching support) for high school students.

  • EL Leadership: Serve as the English Learner (EL) advocate, overseeing language development plans, accommodations, and student progress tracking.

  • Assessment & Support: Manage required language proficiency assessments (such as ACCESS testing) and foster student involvement in school-wide activities.

  • Inclusive Excellence: Collaborate with staff to ensure all students, including diverse learners, gain the skills needed for post-secondary and career success.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, TESOL, Linguistics, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).

  • Valid state teaching certification with an ESL endorsement.

  • Proven experience teaching English as a Second Language

  • Strong understanding of the needs and challenges of middle school students learning English.

  • Organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and the local community.

  • A student-centered mindset.
