The Darlington Community School District is seeking an ESL Teacher to lead our high school English language learners. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to collaboration, a solution-focused mindset, and a deep understanding of the unique needs of high school students who are expanding their English language skills. Key Responsibilities
Instruction: Deliver an engaging ESL curriculum (Language Acquisition, Academic Literacy, and co-teaching support) for high school students.
EL Leadership: Serve as the English Learner (EL) advocate, overseeing language development plans, accommodations, and student progress tracking.
Assessment & Support: Manage required language proficiency assessments (such as ACCESS testing) and foster student involvement in school-wide activities.
Inclusive Excellence: Collaborate with staff to ensure all students, including diverse learners, gain the skills needed for post-secondary and career success.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Education, TESOL, Linguistics, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
Valid state teaching certification with an ESL endorsement.
Proven experience teaching English as a Second Language
Strong understanding of the needs and challenges of middle school students learning English.
Organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and the local community.
A student-centered mindset.
