Position Summary The ESL Instructional Coach provides leadership and direction at the school level, working to
design,
implement,
coordinate
and
evaluate
a
comprehensive
core
content
area
program.
In
addition,
the
ESL
Instructional
Coach
assists
teachers
on
how
to
directly
and
aggressively
work
with
students
to
substantially
accelerate
their
core
content
area
performance
in
both
"double
dip"
scheduled
classes
and
during/beyond
the
school
day
supplemental
support
programs.
These
identified
students
are
the
lowest
achieving
students
who
perform
two
or
more
years
below
grade
level.
Under
the
supervision
of
the
building
principal
and
district
representative,
the
teacher
will
provide
diversified
strategies
and
activities
specifically
designed
for
targeted
students.
Qualifications
Master's
degree
in
education
instruction.
Highly
qualified
teacher
with
full
State
of
Michigan
ESL
certification
(NS
or
YA-YT).
Minimum
of
five
years'
successful
classroom
teaching
experience
in
which
the
teaching
of
a
core
content
area
was
an
important
responsibility
for
the
position.

instruction

Scaffold

they

and

a

with
the
inclusion

Coordinate

demonstrations,

ensure

environment where students can thrive.
Engage
in
on-going
professional
development
to
increase
knowledge
and
skills
in
supporting
literacy
and
mathematics
development
for
adolescent
students
and
students
who
represent
sub-group
populations.
Actively
participate
with
grade
level
and
content
area
teacher
teams
that
focus
on:
Teacher
core
content
area
knowledge,
skills
and
dispositions
most
essential
to
the
future
success
of
their
students;
and
the
identification
of
student
needs
through
data
analysis,
development
of

instructional
strategies
to

those

and
